Friday Scripture Pictures

Hi friends,
Thought I'd use the poppies in my garden to share
a few scripture pictures today.
This is one of the poppies I planted  for sourdough bread topping.
The verse is special to me this year especially.

You make known to me
the path of life;
In your presence there is fullness
of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11

This one looks so much like an eye to me.
I did change the center to blue.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way
you should go.  I will counsel you
with My eye upon you.
Psalm 32:8

I can't help but  see an eye in this one as well-
 do you?

Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
Psalm 63:3

Keep On Singing

I'm listening to this today and
because I love it so much it's going in my playlist.

The garden is brimming with so much life.
As I walk the isles I can actually smell
petunias... and that delights me because ever since covid my whiffer has
been somewhat amiss.  Not this morning! Buckwheat, butterfly weed, snapdragons, sunflowers, cucumbers, squash, cukes, angelonica, coral bells, bachelor buttons, black eyed susies, salvia, coneflowers, roses, and lilies calas, geraniums, sweet william, dianthus, oxalis, and hollyhocks are abloom.

While weeding abit, -I noticed this  painted lady found  sipping shastas
simply irresistible.
They became today's scripture picture.

Until we meet again,

A Few September Blessings

I'm thankful she left kitchen door surprises
...- so enjoyed  and later moved to the garden for
years of rebloom.
Love shared and felt all over again
and again
and again....

 For blue treasures left behind.
And wild blues that climb higher every year.
For the company of fanciful garden spiders who weave so artistically
that I wish they could teach me how to create such  zigzag stitch by hand.
For the joy of this wild gang and all their butting antics.

For these amazing clouds... and colors of blue and gray and white...
my new palette of shadow and
light.
 For my Love...
and how he holds me
close.

For singing Redeemed together
with Big Daddy Weave,
and driving
in his new truck.

For God's  protection when he's on the road...
and that He has brought him home
safe to me.
 For provisions...
-- our needs are met,
this good food,
and the shelter of
this old farmhouse.
 For baked bread and
breaking it
together.
'For big ole fluffy-pink roses in September,
and so much rain that's kept things lush.

For time with my sweets...
and a teaparty unlike any we've ever had.
... monkeying around.

How she wants to still be carried ...
"Grammy carry me."
--words I longed for once.

 For home brewed vanilla
that is ambering up beautifully and smells
so divine.
 For sunsets like this...
I give thanks.
Thank you God for all these things and so much more.
Thank you for my every thing.

I sign off with a scripture picture from long ago.
It felt fitting for today.
Share the love.
Until we meet again,

Fun With Words and Scripture Picture

 Hi friends!

I shared with yall the other day that a friend and I have started sharing a word
a day with eachother to dote on.
So far we've had:
luscious,
relish,
audacious,
selah,
mirabilia,
petrichor,
benignity,
and today's is ... lackadaisical.
Lackadaisical...
I'll never forget the first time I ever heard that word.
I was driving my Mom home from Fort Smith... I think it was one of her chemo appointments.
We were chatting and out of her mouth pops that word only she
would pronounce it laxadaisical.
I told her it was a cool word she just made up. (ha! Oh my word.. the fight was on!) lol  No pun intended.  - Yall she let me know she did not make up that word!!!!! She heard her Mom use it all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!  When I got home I looked it up.  I was just sure she was full of it.
Especially when there was no laxadaisical.
But then there it was... lackadaisical.  By golly she right .. it was a real word afterall.

As she got sicker I kept a little basket of stitcheries with me so I'd have something
to do with all the waiting.  This was one I worked on toward the end and never finished.
The yoyo's were my Grandmother's... (her Mother's) and so were the buttons.  You can see where I was intending to add another flutterfly but just never did.
Anyways I looked for this today since it became our word of the day.
Kind of got the want to again to finish it.
sweet memories... !!

Lackadaisical is such a cool word!!  A real word!
I can't help but see daisies when I read it or say it.
And it's fun trying to use these words in sentences throughout the day.

I haven't shared a scripture picture in awhile so I thought I'd do one
on the WORD of God.
The photo has probably been used for a different one but that's okay.
Until we meet again!

A Few Small Things and Scripture Picture

A few small things from my week that brought joy
and made me smile...

... the very first ripe peaches from
Blakelea's tree.
This special tree was planted
for our grandgirl after she was born.

Walking past moss roses and seeing
this  gold star.

Smelling a wafty, sweet perfume and
discovering it's the stargazer lilies... blooming their purdy lil heads off.
-Another gift that Trent gave me long, long ago.
Watering and turning free our incarcerated pumpkin plants...
Seeing these big strong leaves; I can already taste
the punkin pie and bread.

 doorknobs n bloomstiks.
I had  never grown this type of sunflower before;
it was a seed pack gift from a friend!

 And then there is
this!!!!!!!!!!!
Eeeeek... I lovelovelove finding hearts in nature.
If you make it bigger you can even see the cute lil nibbles.
After putting the chickens to bed last night I was walking through
the garden back to the house and leaving the raspberry isle it registered
what I'd just seen.  I turned around and sure enough...
a critter chewed the cutest heart.
I ran inside to find my phone and went back to get the photo before
something messed it up. haha
When I got back inside I thought, "Now whyyy did I just leave it there?
So I went back again and carefully grabbed the cluster and
put it safely inside a book to dry.

When the day comes that I want to use it for a stencil... but ...I can't remember
where my safe place was...
could someone please remind me that it's in the old Draper's Self Culture book
on page: 211?  lol
Thanks!

I sign off tonight with a scripture picture made using the
strawberry jar from my sweet Mama.
"But now, O LORD, you re our Father; we are the clay, and You are our Potter; we are all the work of Your hand."  Isaiah 64:8
Feel free to use and share it if you like...

Today was So Good... and Scripture Picture

Hi friends,
Thought I'd share a few snapshots of our family yesterday
celebrating Father's day.  -- Happy Father's day to all you dad's out there and
those of you who have lost your Dads or never had one ... or have an
it's complicated relationship... I feel you.  It can be hard I know. Especially
if you are missing someone.  I know an ache like that and just want you to know
you're not alone.  I thought of all the people I know ... in my past and present
who's father's are gone now.  I send you a six foot hug.

Back to the farm here... it really felt good having our kids all here.
My husband and sons work closely together every day so we're really
blessed to have that.  Not many men can probably say that and making
it all work... that too is a blessing.  But like most people;  having gatherings;
has been put to the back burner.  Yesterday we had them all over though and had
a barbecue.  It felt so good to be together.  I think we all needed it.

Anthony our youngest took his little daughter to walmart yesterday and she got her very own fishing pole and pink tacklebox.  She wanted to go fishin!  That's what everyone wanted to do really!  Trent brought a few extra boys with him and they too wanted to fish so everyone brought their fishing gear.  Blakelea in the photo up above was pretty patient for a three year old watching her bobber.  I had to get that shot of her... it really cracked me up seeing her sit like that.
She loved her new tacklebox but it was pretty empty.  Next thing I know she kept going over to mine and taking the pretty baits out of mine and putting in hers.  She went for my sparkly baits and pink bubblegum flukes.  I'm pretty sure... my box is about empty and hers looks "pretty inside" now. Cracked Papa and me up watching her set up her own box.   I may need to
"borrow" some things from her once in awhile.

 This is my baby boy.
They don't really care when I call them that.
Both of them would probably tell you they
are Momma's boys.
I think  everyone caught quite a few fish.
I love this shot of him  and his love Michelle.
Papa caught a nice catfish.  Our pond's  gotten so weedy
and has so many briars around some edges that it's hard to get a fish out of the water in some places.
Of course we didn't bring a net but ...who needs one when you have a helping hand. lol
I love this ... not only how Mike's hangin onto Tony so he does't fall in... but also...
Blake had been up to the house and came back wearing pink high heels. I think she needs a strand of pearls to go with her fishin outfit.

It got kind of hilarious for a bit coz Mike was trying to get down the bank without falling in...and kept holding onto Tony's shorts.  Tony was having a time holding them up. haha
But when it came time... he had a strong helping hand.
I love this shot.  Mike  got that slimy catfish too by the tail!
Blakelea was sooo excited to see her Uncle Trent.
He's such a kid magnet... and always has been!!
Kids just love him.  (So does his Momma.)
 This heart feels so full.
And Papa; he had a really good day.  After they all left last night... we fell into the loveseat..and
just sat back and looked at eachother... thankful.  We both kept saying
today was so good. I'm so tired... but today was so good.
You know it's good when Blakelea is almost crying because she doesn't
want her family to leave.
I will treasure these moments in my heart always.
I hope myguy looks back on all this fullness and
just feels so much love.  Because he is.  His sons adore him
and I'm so blessed to get to be his helpmeet.
Mother Teresa said, "If you want to change the world,
go home and love your family. "
See... It's all about the love.

 This morning we overslept.
Myguy wasn't late for work but boy did we scramble.
I just had  to catch up around here today..
You know how it is after you have a houseful.

When I got all the outside animal chores done, I put Mrs. Potter in the
goat enclosure with Olaf.  We should have bunbuns in 29-31 days if the moon and stars line up just right.    Won't they make beautiful babies?
I looked up patron saints of rabbits and discovered there is one!  St. Melangell patron saint of rabbits and hares.  How awesome!
Yall I'm loving this studying of saints.
So many people get attached to one particular saint.
I don't know enough of them yet to decide on one... but learning about them is wonderful.
My grandmother loved St. Francis and because of her I am so fond of him myself but
I think I need my own saint...
I wish one could just pick me.
If you have one ... I'd love to hear.

At some point today,  I need to figure out what to do with my creeping charlies.
See the brown leaves?  A friend of mine thought maybe too wet... but he dries out really fast especially in the green house.   Maybe he just needs a bigger pot?  I started some new cuttings of him just in case.
He's one of my most favorite plants ever.  My sister told me to get rid of him and that creeping charlies are CREEPS.  It's gotta be a different charlie coz this guy is awesome.
Now: one last share:
Look what I found on ebay.
I've SO missed going to second hand shops and flea markets since the pandemic.
So I searched some things on ebay.  I got this beautiful antique holy water font yesterday!  The auction that is.
I messaged the seller and asked more about it and he said he buys from estate sales alot and this was actually hanging on the house of an older home and the people would bless themselves when they'd go out.  It's going to go inside the greenhouse near my little prayer bench.  Don't know where I'll find holy water?  It seems weird buying holy water doesn't it?  I just dunno about that... it feels wrong.
Lastly, this St. Catherine is also coming to live with me.
Is she not just adorable?  I love her flying nun hat.
Okay sorry for the long post...
If you made it this far... here is a knucklebump *
********

I sign off with this scripture picture.  I hope you can read this font... it's one of my favorites but
it really is a little hard to read.
O come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker!
Psalm 95:6
Have a great day yall!
Until we meet again

Father's Day Sunday

Hi friends,
Quick post while I'm waiting for myguy to wake up
and we get this Father's day started.

Lately I've been listening to Micah 6:8  on my ipod
by Kathleen Carnali so this verse has been on my mind alot.
It seemed right to become  the next scripture picture here.
You're welcome to the photo if it speaks to you...
Share the love.

Martha Martha

Good morning friends,

The day started way too early.
Finally got up and just opened my bible because
He is my strong tower.
With this pandemic going on, I've put something off long as I can
out of fear but it's time to just face it.
I know I won't be alone.
He goes before me, is behind me, is beside me  and
is within me.
Courage is my word of the day.
How about you?!!

Thought I'd share that
I'm almost finished reading the extra books in  Gram's catholic bible.
Sirach is my favorite but I'll save writing more until I have time
to share what I  gleaned from each book.  I don't want to leave something  out
and don't have that bible  in front of me.

Today is bread baking day  and last night I found myself researching food in biblical
times- especially bread.    I read  that women had to get up around three hours before
their household just to make bread.  Can you imagine?  That led me rereading about the Proverbs 31 woman... how she would rise while it was still night to provide food for her family. That lines up perfectly.  Nowadays we have it so easy... we can buy yeast in the store.. we don't have to gather the grain before we beat it into flour.. we have our big ole kitchen aid mixers to do alot of the work... -- I've got it made.    The whole subject  brought me into the book of Ruth reading about Naomi and Ruth arriving in Bethlehem during the beginning of barley harvest.  Barley and wheat were the usual grains used for break making.   I love how the Word says  she "happened" on Boaz's field...  It's such a beautiful story how she found her kinsmen redeemer.  And...
cool too  how the simple act of baking bread today  made the bible come to life even more than my day before.  The word of God is truly alive.  And how it says she "happened" on Boaz's field.. tells me God was connecting her dots... the same way I've seen him connect my own.

In my research of biblical foods, I cant help but to remember our dear Martha.  I wish right now I could say ... hey Martha Martha... I need your bread recipe!  Just imagine the foods she prepared for Jesus.
I just bet the table she set was lovely.

I sign off with wildflowers in our woods.
Until we meet again,
Lea  <*(((><

Sabbath Afternoon

 A few years back;
this is where I spent alot of time.
It was so peaceful and
I think some growing took place.

The olde table is now in my art porch ...
and the bench has since rotted away.

The picture of Jesus  hangs inside the potting shed where
English Ivy has grown through the cracks.  I've said it before but it's true... surely  ivy,
wisteria and angels hold the olde shed  together.

Today I was blessed with a new view. Myguy made me a new picnic table
for Mother's day.  He welded the whole base together himself and drove up on the mountain
during work hours to meet an old man with a sawmill for these very boards.
As much as I loved our old picnic table; every time I mowed I had to drag it around.
Happily; this one sits in the heart of the garden and
I'll not have to move it at all.
The umbrella bends so I can move it to always have a piece of shade.
I spent the whole afternoon right there.
I picked fresh sprigs of fleurs for old bottles-
the little things that bring  joy.

My two companeros ....Addie n Francois...
and a third for a spell...
Quill
As I loaded my tote today I threw this old book in...
I've had "soul" on the brain.  Hadn't looked at it in so long..
I think I got it at a yard sale.  Opening it today ... still has me shaking my head.
In the good way.  God's awesome like that.
with a special thought of all who are outside the visible fold of the Catholic church and with the earnest hope that the reader in any case may be drawn more closely by them to the love of God.
Opening my art journal I drug along to the table... is this page.
So imperfect... humble.. and  she is one of my most favorite.
She was never finished... just the first step of blocking in color.. and I couldn't go any further.
She was everything... I felt ... and still do... and named her Faith.  A simple soul.  Trying to be patient.
After reading Grams bible, doing my study... the whole Latin thing.. I read this book
for the rest of the afternoon.  It's completely delightful.

I'm so grateful.. and it's exciting  when you can see this partial unfolding of  things happening
around you... connecting dots... and the sense that the bigger picture that you can't see is
taking shape. and ... it's beautiful!   (I know; I can't get over that run on sentence either.)  My thoughts
are running wide open today.  :)
I sign off with this scripture picture ...
Time to throw some burgers on the grill!
Until we meet again!
