Farmhouse Bedroom Makeover

Hello from our neck of the woods!
-This was our sunset tonight...
so I thought I'd share with ya.

Things are moving along with our little bedroom makeover.
I've been sanding or painting something nearly every day.
Good thing I've gone gray  because I have so much white paint
in this wildhair - I can barely get a comb though it. lol
(I'm not even kiddin.) Ohwell.

I sanded and painted the bed alabaster.
Myguy cut the knobs off and added these bolts so he'll have
something to attach the canopy when he gets it built.
I can hardly wait ... lots of fabric will get hung and
more twinkle lights.
Our initials are carved in the headboard now.

Swapped out my other dresser for this antique one.
A friend of Mike's gave it to me a few years back.
It was painted gray with big red spots when I got it. lol
She kinda looked like... an old ladybug.

It was fun painting all these little carved pieces.

The girl in me coulda went with pink roses but
blue-gray felt like a better fit in here.

Even Myguy likes the colors.
It feels fresher and light and airy now.

I still need to find the right drawer pulls on his dresser.
I stopped at Hobby Lobby to grab some the other day but
it wasn't their forty percent off week and I need 8 so
... we'll have to wait.

When cleaning out the cedar chest, I found an old letter from Myguy's
Grandmother.  She wrote it to us both the day before we got married and
she gave marriage advice pointing us to God when we have problems in life.
I made a copy and antiqued it and put it in a black frame
to surprise Myguy.  I haven't put one nail in the walls since painting them
but this special letter will hang near his dresser.    (The teddy bear was his
as a little boy too.)

I added rosehips, putka pods and  twinkle lights
to this antique lantern.  It's very special and  came from an old mine
in the Black Hills.
Finding things to add to this space is my favorite part.
This old heater was a flea market find as well and
today I added firewood to it and surprise....!!!!- more twinkle lights.
 This was a hutch that used to be aqua.  We took the cupboard doors off;
repainted it, and Myguy added the tongue and groove boards left over from
the ceiling to it's top.  We liked that idea better than sanding and staining the
tabletop like we were first thinking.
This nightstand was also a thrift find that used to be turquoise..
I left the drawer dark to match the antique china cabinet in the room.
The china cabinet is full of nests, feathers, heart rocks... etc.

This chair was my first ever milkpaint project.
It didn't flake off as much as I kinda hoped but I still like it.
I love rusty crusty, chippy, painty, peely goodness.
In time, it will probably peel more.

We put an old black trunk at the foot of the bed but I'm still debating
about the cedar chest instead.
More than likely I'll be putting it up on soup cans
and get a drop cloth under it before lights out tonight.
Now that I got the whole thing cleaned out and gave the boys their
childhood things... I kinda want to see it white, and beable to use it for
our own momentos.
So that will probably be next?
And then my other dressers mirror that's out in the shed.
Gonna have Myguy cut  the funky wooden top off and I'll sand it and paint it white,
-then hang it lengthwise over our new bathroom vanity.
Got to lookin and mirrors are really expensive!
Since that one is just collecting dust in the shed we might as well
see if we can do something with it.
Can't hurt to try anyways.

Well that's about it, other than hanging things on the walls.
I did order a bible verse from Song of Solomon to hang over the headboard.
It says "I have found the one whom my soul loves."

Time to go find the dropcloth and some soup cans...
Until we meet again,
<*)))><
