Simple Joys and Color Swatching

 Howdy friends!
Taking a breather today and looking back on the past few days.
Sweet joys that came along my way...
Like... retiring the paint brush I used on our bedroom and bathroom
so it can live in my art room and ... get a face. It's not every day
you can date a brush on the back with  a pandemic and art
an expression.
 and then ...
there's school supplies.
This time of year... ohmysweetword.
Perusing the isles of pencils and pens, and
markers and paper and notebooks..
what's not to love.
I brought this indigo blue tie dyed affect notebook home.
Is it affect or effect... I can never remember?
The colors look like ocean waves... like...
the perfect storm.  That pretty much
describes this pandemic doesn't it?
Going through our closets and tossing old clothes I came upon these.
Myguy's jeans that  he used to wear when we were   riding motorcycle.
sigh.  I couldn't donate them.  I just couldn't.
So many wonderful rides... that I loved every second of.
Those mountain roads... curves and hills...
cold spots......  So I kept them out to grab a seam ripper and get the leather
tag off an save the rest for a future project.  It's a really cool denim with 'lots
of whiskering.. and simple joyful memories.
 Then there is this...
the coolest stamp from my friend who creates art kits.
This stamp will be a go to for me.
These papers came from her as well...
Made in Italy.  Luscious, gorgeous, audacious papers I relish in.
What?????? I know; it sounds weird right?
 And my latest passion:
Pencils... graphite... charcoal...
So simple...
but completely wonderful.
And of course fountain pens... with beautiful
inks that just beg to be written with.
And the joy of creating a new insert to
document  all the stories and to do's
for August.
And for our "word of the day" that a friend and I
are documenting.  We are taking turns
every day to dote on a word.
So far we've had: luscious, relish, audacious, and today: is my turn: Selah.
and this little joy: a  sketchbook insert too.

For you know... a place to play....
Joy in coming across this cut out of my Gram...
and hanging her in the window next to her lone earbob
that she tried to fix with turquoise thread.
And Blakelea asking me yesterday who dat is and why she have wings on her?
Watching her scoop up Mrs. Beasley in my art room and
asking if she could play with her.
"Yes my love... with all my heart yes."
Our first banana bread together... and telling her all about her great Grama Colleen
who  lives in heaven with Jesus and Addie.
That it is her recipe we were making and her old banana bread pan.
Such sweet ... Simple joys.. and so much love.
And so much flour still on my floor.   :)
For squeals and laughter and little girl giggles
-being chased by a three year old on a mission to soak you
through to your soul.
For handholding  and the joy that she could give a rip
if i looked like a dork wearing boots with capris...
coz we were simply joyfully TOGETHER.
magazines, and journals and gluesticks and markers...
artjournaling with a friend... and one canine companero.

snuggles and cuddles and her two chocolate milks to finally
get this little princess  to sleep.

and the joy of finally deciding on carpeting after dreaming and planning and
painting.
 for another step forward....
JoyFULLY.

Good morning Lea, it is good to see you are having some art fun with your little princess after all your work decorating. Isn't it special to have a recipe and a bread pan with memories!!

I have some sketching pencils in a box that I should get out and use, not going to create anything in a box!!! thank you for the reminder.

Taking turns to dote on a word every day with a friend and document sounds like a lovely thing to do and must be so encouraging to each other. Glad you are having joyfull days in the every day. Thank you for sharing the joy. Blessings.

Hi Terra!
I think I've finally learned where the joy lives... something I wish I would have learned long ago.

Jeanie... yes get those pencils out of the box!!!
I have some wonderful sketches made by YOU THAT I TREASURE!

Yes it was fun getting to play with Blakelea but it's hard too because having my mess in the other room... it's hard to forget that awhile and stay in the moment. My mind wanders to all I have to get done.
I"m going to finish our book today... we need to discuss it!! She is a wonderful character our Mrs. Budge.
