Gratitudes 3

Greetings and Holykisses!

Counting a few random blessings......

1. I spotted this flower growing in the woods across our long driveway. I'm not sure what it is yet; but it's beautiful!
2. Blooming calla lilies that are bigger than ever!
3. The miniature hollyhocks are blooming as well. This pale yellow one is like a short glass of lemonade. ;)
4. Fresh eggs in funny places.

5. Brand new zucchini.... and today thee aroma of fresh bread will be coming from our kitchen!
6. Our sweet corn that was blown over in one of the latest storms... miraculously picked back uP.
7. Blackberries are coming on strong, while visions of cobbler dance in my head.
8. The soothing sounds of running water while weeding.
9. The bluebird house has baby sparrows.
And again ...I'm in love.

Psalm 84:3
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God.

10. Another visitor stopped by the shabby olde potting shed. He said he's just passing thru, but... I noticed he's extended his stay.
11. I met Mrs. Swallowtail dining in a lovely butterfly weed in the back pasture.
12. And before the photoshoot had ended; I met a happy Milkweed Bug.
Is God cool or what?!
Remember awhile back I shared this picture of the bluebirds that moved into Momma's mailbox?
Mrs. Bluebird set about feathering her nest......
13. Discovering this home tweet home was a heavenly {hug.} Can you see all the string piled up near the front? I wonder if they pulled it out of the wicker basket I leave out full of nesting materials or if they gathered elsewhere? --Every time I go near this mailbox I make my presence known ahead of time and the Mother would leave.

So a couple days ago I grabbed my camera and carefully reached inside to see if anything was in there....
14.
15.
16.
17. four beeeautiful blueish eggs!
18. Today... the camera revealed this instead! Trent took this picture on his cellphone and emailed it to me. Awww!!! You just cannot imagine what joy was brought to this lil heart of mine.

19. It's been a wonderful week with blessings overflowing... even in our mailbox.

Thanks God.
Psalm 86:12
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.

Thankful Thursday 1-6-11

Greetings, Holykisses and happy Thankful Thursday!

Good morning friends!
I decided to take a few minutes today to record a few of my many, many blessings. The first TT post of 2011! A brand new year, .... day 6 already; can you just believe that?! My devotionals are dated and when it occurred to me that it's been almost a whole week already into 2011, I nearly flipped. In part, it's because I committed to read the bible all the way through again and I haven't hit a lick yet. Not because I didn't want to but my new Christmas bible has been on "order" and hadn't come in yet. And it's the one I want to use this year, so I have catching up to do. Thankfully the book store called and today I get to go pick it up! So my new bible can be the first blessing to randomly list today! So here we go....

Random blessings for the first week of the new year!
1. My new parallel bible! I can hardly wait to read through the word this year using two new
translations: Amplified, and New King James version! Thank you
Mil and Fil... I can't wait to go pick it up and start reading.
And Thank YOU Lord... I know every good and perfect gift
comes from above. Oh how I love your word!

2. I'm thankful for the surprise visit from our Tony just out of the blue!
Thank you Lord for our two boys who enrich our lives with hugs and so much laughter.

3. I'm thankful for Myguy and that I got to witness from a window this week while
he helped a very frail,... little- old- man up into his big truck to drive him home. It was such
a small thing and yet... I think I fell in love with Myguy all over again.

4. I'm thankful for Miss "I" in the nursing home, who prayed a
blessing for my Mil and me. I've been actually feeling it all week long!
God's using her to teach me that we're never too old to be used by Him, and
to be BOLD in my faith!

5. I'm thankful for our warm, old house. While driving through a swanky neighborhood
thee other day, we passed a fancy house and conversation began about what it might
be like to live there. I think some thought it would be grand, but I realized how incredibly happy
I am right where God has me. Thank you Lord for our happy home.

6. I'm thankful for my health and the health of my family.
So many people have serious ailments and I'm just so thankful for good health.
I know it's something I take too for granted. Thank you Lord for giving me a love
of walking for exercise and for
making me strong in you. Thank you for teaching
me to be more mindful of healthy foods and to realize they're fuel for my temple.

7. I'm thankful most of all for my Lord and Savior who died for me and who's given me
new life in Him.
Thank you Lord.

Dec 2,2010 Thankful Thursday

Greetings and holykisses,
Behind door number 2...... a watercan!
This is fun! I feel like a little kid again.

So here we are December 2nd, on Thankful Thursday.
I'm counting my blessings, with a heart filled with gratitude.

Here, I share
... a few random blessings:
Today I'm thankful for my husband who expresses his love for me in so many ways, all day long.
Even when I forget to wash his work jeans.... or undercook his macaroni.
He extends grace to me always. When I forget to write down my debits, or mess something up royally, I'll often say, "Do you love me still?... even still?????" He always smiles and says, "With all my heart." I'm so thankful!
I'm so grateful God put the two of us together.

I'm thankful for the word of God. I just love my bibles so much. God's word really is alive. The bible says His word does not return void. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Timothy 3:16
I love how His word comes to us in so many ways.... and is always what we need. I was reminded of it last night talking to one of our boys. He'd been to a church with a friend and
and he told me a scripture that was mentioned. He quoted it to me and said how much it meant to him. Thank you Lord!!!
"My son, keep my words and lay up my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart." Proverbs 7:1-3
I'm thankful for my nutty dogs who brighten up my life in so many ways. When I woke up, I had to grab my camera. Addie here; was sacked out on the bed with her tongue hangin out and eyes all rolled up in weird way. She just cracks me up. I love our furballs and am grateful they came into our lives.

I had a long list journaled today, but I'll just add one more here.
I'm thankful for special friends who listen to our ~hearts~.
Friends who love us unconditionally... warts n all.
God knows our needs and so often uses people to bless us and help us along lifes way.
I'm truly thankful.

Have a blessed day everyone!
God's good!
Don't forget to count your many blessings.

"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul and filleth the hungry soul with goodness."

"I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord." Psalm 104: 33-34

"O Give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works." Psalm 105: 1-2

Thankful Thursday Gratitudes

Greetings and Holykisses!

It's Thankful Thursday and I've been setting here thanking God for each and everyone of you who visit the Shabby Olde Potting Shed! It's such a beautiful day here. Garrett our weatherman said to expect some gusty winds today.... who doesn't love gusty winds on an Autumn day?! To see those leaves spin around and twirl down from the trees.... makes me happy!

I have so much to share today! It's been a busy week and there are many changes in thee air!
So here I share a few more random blessings....
Surely you're sick of seeing this picture, but bear with me! This is in my soul journal and I want you to have another glimpse so you can see what God's been doing..... Here; he'd brought to my mind to put my armor on everyday- some of you prolly remember.- (I know it's spelled probably but all the cool young folks say prolly- including our sons so I'm goin with "prolly" today.)
Well, here's a beautiful tag my dear friend Char sent me after seeing thee armor picture. This is a two part blessing because not only is this great tag a God thing... but so is her friendship! We've never met in real life, but God crossed our paths through the open door; here at the Shabby Olde Potting Shed. (Thanks God!!!)

This past Sunday, as I got dressed for church, my mind drifted to putting on my Godly armor.
So piece, by piece.... I imagined putting it on. My helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, and then I reached for my shield of faith. After that I slipped on my comfy gospel boots and before leaving gripped my sword of the Spirit. I was dressed...and we headed out.
We pass by this suit of armor every day to go to church. It actually hangs on a fence and I've often admired it but this last Sunday we were a little early so I asked Myguy to stop and take a picture of me next to it since God keeps bringing this whole armor thing to my attention. Soon as he took the photo, we headed on to church. Walking through the doors, the greeter handed me the bulletin:
Should I even be surprised I ask?????????????????????
"We must... put the armor of FAITH and LOVE on our chests, and put on a helmet of the HOPE of SALVATION. (Thank you Abba Father for revealing Yourself to me and speaking in the most amazing, awesome, cool, rock my world kind of ways!!! I hear You, I'm listening, and please keep showing me things! " Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Jeremiah 33:3

Another cool random blessing this week is this: I received an email from someone I didn't know that had once read a Post here at the shed. Let me further explain: A couple years ago, another blogger friend sent me a link to a Gardening site and she told me to go look at these "potting shed" advent calendars. I went to the site and loved them but they were really expensive. I waited and they were later marked down but still not enough where I felt I could buy one. I kept thinking about them though and when I went back again... they were "sold out." I sorta kicked myself! Must have been last year then, I blogged about advent calendars and asked people if they had any good patterns or ideas to make one? You typically see wall hanging advent calendars made from wool. -- Then I think I wrote about this particular potting shed advent calendar and how I missed out on it. Fast forward now to this new email I received from a gal who'd visited the Shabby Olde Potting Shed long ago and who had read that post. Still with me? She said she'd actually purchased one of those exact potting shed advent calendars and no longer wanted it and asked me if I would like to buy it? She priced it extremely reasonable and I bought it from her. A couple days ago it came in the mail and look at it!!!! It's so dadgum cute! It's really big too! See all those little doors? They all open and have things like rubber boots, a water can, ... gardening things to take out on those days and decorate around the lil potting shed. (It makes me smile) And what a blessing! Thankyou Susan!!!! You blessed me so much! I can hardly wait til December 1st!!!
Onto some more random blessings.... our lil flock! Some of you are "prolly" shaking your head at me. I can't help it.... they really do bless me! These lil guys n gals are my friends! So many of them will eat right out of my hand and even though some are now molting.... they lay the best eggs!
Remember the Christmas hen? Our neighbor gave her to me for Christmas last year.
She lays the most beautiful big brown eggs! I love her! She will even let me pet her for a bread crumb.
See her eggs? Which came first... the chicken or thee egg? The chicken of course!
And God said "It was very good too!"

Some of you have written to me about our old cupboards. This one was missing a cutting board, so my handy Hubby cut a new board for it recently. Works great! He even cut a cute lil groove on the bottom for my fingers to pull it out. (I'm thankful God gave me a Handyman Husband!)
Out in the garden, I was blessed to find the Snow Queen Clematis I planted in Spring, had bloomed this week! My Angel Mother once won a Snow Queen contest so I planted it in her memory. Seeing this big bloom this week really touched me coz I've been experiencing a few sad missing her days again.
After our garden died down in August, I mowed it and cleaned it out. But the zinnia seed resprouted as well as more morning glories. Everything you see here came up without me planting it. Even the one cockscomb in that pot. (I'd planted petunias in that pot and they died when it got really hot.)

On this particular day this past week, I cut a whole mess of zinnas and the cockscomb and brought them inside to put in old fruit jars.
The night that I did this.... we got our first freeze! All the rest of them outdoors died out.
But these are still on our woodstove! Oh and the lil birdnest is yet another lil blessing. I have such a thing for birdnests and feathers n things. I found this little nest on the same day I cut the zinnias. It had fallen out of our Pecan tree!
Into the kitchen, .... more blessings. Some of my Facebook buddies encouraged me to try making a pumpkin roll. I've always thought they are beautiful but they do look abit intimidating? Next trip to town, I bought thee ingredients and gave it a go. (If you want the recipe, I ended up using the one that can be found on the back of a Libbys pumpkin can.) -- Oh looky... this is where I got to try out the new cutting board!
It was so much fun trying something new....
And they actually turned out!
Not eating the whole thing was the hard part.
Happily, both Myguy and me have both met our weight goals now! Which is yet another blessing! Maintaining is alot easier than losing that's for sure! As my friend Heidi would say, "You can have 1 cookie." Or in our case... 1 piece of pumpkin roll.
If anybody is still with me??? .... we're now out back and counting more blessings. First, Myguy has been on vacation all week. It's been awesome having him HOME. And another blessing is we got to start building a wrap around porch. For 15 years now; this is what it looked like to go out our back door. It's quite a drop down to concrete blocks, and then the ground. See our clothesline out by the fence?
I used to push off the top concrete block carrying my laundry basket coz I was afraid a snake could be inside these blocks.
This is what it used to look like.
And this is how it's coming along. We're pretty excited about it and very thankful.
We still have a few boards to put on the floor later today and then the railing around the whole thing and the steps on the right. I asked Myguy if instead of a step on the left, if I could have one cool flat rock. So I'll be watching for just the right one when I go walking through the woods.

We won't be able to get the roof on until next year because God willing, at that time we'll have a green metal roof put on our whole house as well as this porch. We're very grateful because almost everything it cost to do all of this was more blessings. We'd been saving all our pocket change for a few years and tossing in an antique pickle jar. For two nights this week, Myguy and I counted and rolled all our pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters and discovered we'd saved almost 700 dollars! Then, yesterday we hauled off three of our calves we had this year. With God; one pickle jar plus three calves can build a porch!

Well, I have a doctor appt I better go get ready for. Just a physical; you know how fun it is after 40... you get to go have mammygrammys and all kinds of good stuff. I shouldn't complain; instead I "prolly" should be saying "I get to go to the doctor today!" (yeah right; who am I kidding.) :D

Have a wonderful day!!
God's good!
Holykisses xoxo

Counting My Blessings....

Greetings and holykisses!

It's Thankful Thursday once again.
Here I share a few random blessings:

I'm thankful for this mighty Oak we saw on our drive this past week.
It reminded me to bend a little; but not to compromise following God.

I'm thankful that two people I love, are doing well after their
surgeries. We are believing for complete restored health.

I'm thankful it's sweater weather! ;)
Our Autumn mornings have been beautiful and chilly!

I'm thankful our heater worked well after turning it on for the first
time this morning. It stunk so toasty warm and took the chill off the house.

I'm thankful Myguy has some time off and look forward to spending
extra time together.

I'm thankful I finally met my goal and have lost 26 pounds! It's been
a long journey... and I just give God the glory. He helped me the whole way.
I feel so much lighter on my feet and healthier.

I'm thankful I get to walk our pastures everyday for exercise. I've come to look
forward to it and enjoy it so much!!!

I'm thankful for my newest bible study book, and can hardly put it down.

I'm thankful for all the zinnias that sprouted up in our garden and are now blooming
like crazy! (Today, I hope to cut a huge bouquet to put in an antique Cross
mason jar.) -- all gifts from God.

I'm thankful for so many things today. For all of you,... your friendships, and encouragement. God's been so good to me!

"Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." John 21:25

Have a blessed day!

Thankful Thursday ~Faith~

Greetings and Holykisses,
It's Thankful Thursday once again.

When Myguy turned off the buzzing alarm clock this morning my ears attuned to happy sparrows right outside our bedroom. A thicket of bamboo has become sanctuary to them and if you walk past this tall miniature forest during the day; you'll set what looks like hundreds of sparrows, light into the air. This morning they chirped so loudly, that they made their very own praise and worship band. It was music to our ears!

Today they begin my first random blessing. Thankyou Lord for the sparrows who reminded me to j0yfully praise You with all my heart! No stones will cry out in my place.
Thank you Lord for healing us from the "crud." Having it, has reminded me how blessed I am for my good health and the health of my husband and children.
Thank You for helping me set down another pound at the foot of the cross. You've not given me a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, love, and self discipline.
Thank you for giving me courage to speak the truth in love... and reminding me to be authentic. No more through gritted teeth christian nice girl stuff.
Thank you for reminding me of Your first commandment and that it's the first... for a reason.
Thank You for teaching me that to really follow you, we sometimes lose people. -and that You did too.
Thankyou for showing me that there are times I need to just shake the dust from my feet and move on.

Thank you for using a Sister to heed me to put my armor on every day, and pick up my shield of FAITH.....
I find that at times I'm alot like the children of Israel; afraid to cross over into the Promised land: afraid of walled cities and.... and giants. But You're my strength and You go before me!

Thank You for calling this lil sheep by name: Leaon Mary. Thank You for leading me out. ;)
Thank You for this beautiful changing season! Sometimes when it appears that something is just ending... it's really a new beginning in disguise.

Thank You for getting my attention, in my ordinary days and for making them extra-ordinary.
Thank You Lord... I love you Father God!

Have a wonderful day everyone!!
Thanks for the visits to the shabby old potting shed.
Thanks for your prayers, encouragement, comments, emails, signing the guestbook, for being followers - I rather call it... coming along "with" me. Follow HIM, not me. Thank you for your friendship! I pray the Lord blesses you all today!
Holykisses,
