Hello friends,
Hope yall had a good weekend.
Hard to believe it's almost Thanksgiving.
I'm anxious to see my kids... and have some good food.
We have so much to all be thankful for.
Covid is beginning to hit some of our own friends
and family now. So far our kids nor us has gotten it;
(that we know of anyway. )
I hope and pray all of you are safe
and stay healthy through these holidays.
Usually the day after Thanksgiving is when I like to start
digging out the tree and Christmas decorations but as I've already posted
this year I've just been in the mood to begin.
Thought I'd share more photos of some of what I've been up to.
It's so warm here still so cutting pine and cedar branches is yet to come.
I want to go do it right now but.. then I'll have to redo it all
probably two times before Christmas so I'm patiently putting that off
for now. It'll all look and smell so different then...
-- I guess it's something to keep looking forward to.
This old stepback cupboard is one of my favorite things...
It really needs pine branches but for now I love it
mostly because of the nativity it holds
and my special pink Santa ornie from childhood.
Our tree still lacks it's skirt. I've almost bought one
time and time again but I always end up just tossing an antique
red quilt beneath. Why spend the money I tell myself.
I miss seeing Addie and
Francois... they should be in this photo.
They would have been right on that rug.
It feels so empty in my heart and writing that
really put all my tinsel in a tangle.
We need a dog.
I sure hope next Christmas this photo
will have a new furry friend in it.
This is another of my favorite things.
True love was born in a stable.
I got that at Red Letter Words dot com and I
look forward to putting it out every season.
The fake candles look so real and need a round slice of
firewood under them. I asked Myguy if he'd cut me some. I know you can buy them everywhere but hopefully he
can cut them because I'd like to have several and they're like
17 dollars each at Target. egads
Our little nook is ready
for a good Christmas book or magazine.
Really glad to be getting things done early this year-
maybe there will be more time
to actually crawl in here and read.
It would be fine by us if it could snow alot too ...
It's on my Christmas wish list. :)
All you who live up North send us some snow
please!!! I love the big big fluffy snowflakes most of all.
To walk in big fluffy snowflakes is so magical.
Had to bring some Christmas to my old white dresser this year.
There are so many very special things right here.
My childhood friend Susie sent me the ice skates.
We used to skate together alllllllllll the time.
Looking back I think we practically lived on ice
during the Winters. I can still hear her giggle when I close my eyes
and remember skating together. And she always had pompoms she made from yarn
on her skates. Always.
The little Nativity was my angelMama's. I think she got it at the Dollar store
and I cherish it. One wing broke off and it's super glued together.
The candle is one of the last things she ever gave me.
I only light it on special occasions ... trying to make
it last as long as I possibly can.
Myguy's dresser got a white stag and a special
angel tree topper.
See.. we need another wood slice under these fake candles too.
Think they better get moved a little... it looks like the garland is
way too close to the flame. lol
The other day I repainted my art table top.
It was a turq color and was time to go.
The legs were this creamy white color and I didn't have any more of that.
So I mixed the canyon walls paint from our bedroom doors with
sterling white to get this creamier white.
How come whites are soooo hard to match?
Anyhow, it's so much brighter now and I'm trying to get things I use most often
within reach and eyesight. I hate when I spend most of my art time looking for
something. Also I have fun supplies I hardly ever use because I forget I have them when
they're hidden behind cupboard doors. So for now... my charcoal, favorite pencils, inks,
stamps, German glass glitter,
and watercolors are at arms length.
I like to get these small, handmade watercolor sets when they're offered for sale but
they get lost when they don't have a place to be. I should probably put them all
together in a larger tin but they're so cute and portable.
The little shelves they all set on I got at a Tique n Flea last week.
Initally I grabbed it for my ink jars but when I got home they were too tall for it.
The little shelf was part green and light turquoise.
The only spray paint I had that would work was this brown and it sure was
easier than using a brush in all those little areas.
It even had room for other things like alcohol inks and
my German glass glitters.
I love glitter.
Don't you?
Who doesn't love glitter?
I mean cmon.
Make it German glass glitter and we're talkin some major
cool sparkle.
Had to pour some into these vintage shakers that have sat empty for too long.
I'm a sucker for little bottles, jars and shakers...
add silver and gold glitter and ...
I'm so in.
silver and gold... silver and gold...
Who else can hear a singing snowman in your ear wearing
a green vest, black hat n neck tie... right now?
You know the one right? ...
Silver and gold, silver and gold
Ev'ryone wishes for silver and gold
How do you measure its worth?
Just by the pleasure it gives here on earth

Silver and gold, silver and gold

For millions of girls and for millions of boys
When Christmas Day is here
The most wonderful day of the year

The most wonderful day of the year
Okay that may have been a rabbit trail...
but we'll bring it back with Rudolf here.
He's from my childhood...
so velvety red... and sparkly with his silver glitter.
He comes out every Christmas and fits so well right here
in my little porch.
See there he is...
So as I was saying before I broke into song... I bought the other shelf for my ink bottles that most didn't fit... Major disappointment.
So I went digging around and spotted this old coca cola crate screwed to a wall in the potting shed.
Well not anymore.
Now these little ink bottles are out and ready to play.
Makes me happy when something we already have can be used in another way.
Last, thought I'd share new tags a friend sent that she made with her own hands.
There's a small silver tree in my art porch now and
for the next few days I think I'll make a few more tags to add to it.
I'm gonna try to use old photos and make more tags of a few friends and family
for this silver Charlie Brown tree.
This one was already done but the lovely woman in the dark dress
is my Great Grandmother Rosanna.
I never met her that I know of but
feel a strong kinship to her.
Well time to sign off.
I'm waiting for the door man to come.
He's supposed to fix the floor under it so
I don't have to worry about a snake slithering in anymore. lol
(I'm not kiddin)
-- Oh and also put the new door in. Page one in the next
chapter of projects.
Have a beeeautiful day today!!!!!!!!
Thanks for visiting the shed...
It means so much to me.
Until we meet again,
<*)))><

Hi Lea, well it doesn't seem like a year since you were celebrating Thanksgiving.
True Love was Born in a Stable....that sure brings tears doesn't it.. Thank you Jesus.
Oh I love your idea to use family photos and tags for your Charlie Brown tree!!!!
And having a photograph of your Great Grandmother is amazing.
I am glad you are enjoying dressing your nest and making places for your art stuff. I had never heard the silver and gold song so thank you for sharing..
We'd probably have to go up north too if we wanted some snow...we're in the Lowlands and near the shore so we don't get a lot of snow, not the nice big flakes to enjoy a walk in.. I love that you had winters to skate, I loved skating too when I was young but had to go to the local ice rink....It was good fun, good memories.
Thank you for sharing and for the beautiful pics. Blessings and JOY
I love your post! Your decorating is amazing. Glitter glitter. Glitter. A girls best friend
Hi Jean...
Hey I'm gonna print you on a tag too!
The song was from Rudolf the red nose reindeer Have you never seen that?
I didn't realize you don't get much snow right there... we used to years ago but lately hardly see any at all... the winters have been so mild. We really miss it!
How awesome you used to skate too! Another thing we have in common! Blessings and joy friend!
