Myguy stopped at our son's house this weekend to swap trucks.
He needed the dually to haul round bales and so he got to
see our grandgirl. Before leaving she picked this flower and gave it to him
to bring back for me.
And not only that but she told him exactly how to present it.
He was to hold it behind his back
so it would be this big surprise. Then, when he handed it to me,
she told him that Grammy will be so happy and go:
"oHHhhhhhHHhh IT'S SOoooo BEAUTIFUL!" (she did it in a grammy voice)
"Then she'll put it up by her cookbooks
so she can save it,"
:)
He did exactly as she told him.
And I did the Ohhhhh it's so beautiful thing too.
We both smiled.
The flower is setting on the shelf by my cookbooks
because I'm saving it.
That little rak gave us both this amazing, warm, fuzzy,
gooey, lavished, oh-so
decadent feeling of
sheer love.
Just awhile ago, I walked past that little frazzled, dried up flower and
smiled all over again.
The love; it's still right there...
so Blessed.
Thumbing through a new magazine I came upon an article on
Raks. Random acts of kindness.
The article listed ideas of things we can do for others.
Leaving flowers for someone... it mentioned their mailbox but I would instead
leave them on their doorstep.
Another was to simply say Hello to a passerby.
It seems so small and yet, .... look how many times you can walk past
people and most people look away and never utter a word. I think it's even more
important now adays because if you have to wear a mask no one can even see
you smile. Life can feel ...mundane.
Especially during this covid thing, don't you think?
So my wheels are turning today.
What are things I can do to brighten someone else's day?
I don't see alot of people.
One thing I have wanted to start doing more of is:
sending snail mail, or
happy mail rather.
I actually have happy mail to take to the post office for a city mouse that I've never met but who
has herself been a big blessing in my life.
Getting real mail is delightful!!!!
Not many people write a hand written letter anymore and yet
who doesn't love getting a hello in the mail?
So that's on my to do list.
I have a free afternoon today!
I'll be splashing paint, and using markers, watercolors,.. just makin a happy mail mess.
Oh what fun.
I hope y'all have a wonderfully blessed day as well!
Until we meet again,
<*)))><

What a lovely story you shared. Sweet memories for you to savor.
Good day Lea, what a super girl she is, awwww...thinking about her grammy and how she knew just how much you would love that little flower. It certainly is the little things that mean a lot.
Think I probably said it before but my Mum told me when she came to Scotland, she'd say to my Gran to write letters, phone calls are good but letters are special, something to hold and read over and over. She always greeted others with a smile and bid them good day. I have carried on that tradition.
Thank you for sharing that lovely story about the flower. Made me smile.
Joyfull!!!
