Wisdom and Guidance

This is still on my nightstand ..
Gram's bible.
Tonight, I should finish the book of Wisdom ... but I don't
really want it to end.   Gram wrote so much throughout this book in particular... I can tell she  loved it.  This will be one  that I will no doubt come back to often.
Wish she was still around to talk with about it.

When I was a little girl I remember how much she talked about Jesus.
Regretfully, I didn't understand then... and remember rolling my eyeballs
around her alot.
(Sorry Grama.)   She prayed for us every day and I'm sure her prayers held me up many a time.
I sure wish she was still here to talk to... I have  so many questions floatin around my head and don't feel like there's anyone with the answers to ask.

There's  one Bishop who I listen to on podcast alot.  I love to hear him speak but I'll just
admit it...  much of  things he says swooshes right over my head!   I keep listening though
because I know I'm learning through him.
The first time I heard him  speak was on a christian radio program where he was talking about cathedrals he loved.
He  wrote a book on the spirituality of them and it's  on my to read list.

Anyways back to this page in Gram's bible...
The four cardinal virtues really stand out to me.
I discovered cardinal... comes from the Latin word cardo which means  hinge.
So I guess the other virtues hinge from these four.
Was really thinkin I'd finish this book today but on second thought... I'm gonna
camp  out here awhile longer.   :)

Well best get my keester in gear.
There is much to do today.
Until we meet again...

Good morning Lea, I am not surprised to want to continue reading in your Gran's Bible knowing she too held it and that she was praying for you. Our Grandmothers and mothers praying for their families and passing on their wisdom to us.

It is fascinating to hear what a Latin or Greek or Hebrew word meaning and then read it in the Scripture...seems to make it easier to understand and puts it in context.

Thank you for sharing.....

God Bless You and Keep You

Good morning sweet Jeanie! You understand completely... yes... to hold that bible and know she did the same... and get to read her thoughts sprinkled throughout the margins is like a big hug in some ways. In doing so ... I am finding I want to know more about my Catholic roots.. and there is so much I do not know.. much less understand. This is my starting place. You remember Cora? ... she would tell me to look up different words in my concordance.. to get the truest meaning from the Word. I love scripture so much.. and to know that it is alive... and I get to fill myself up with it... is such a gift.
Thanks for taking the time to say hello... your friendship is priceless to me. Love Lea
