Give Thanks

I saw when you raised
the metal fork to your lips
and took a bite
without thinking.

I saw you chew
and take pleasure
in the morsel.

I saw your eyes
grow wide
when you realized
whatWho
you'd forgotten.

I saw the pain
of regret and
remorse flash
hard.

I saw your hands
return fork to
plate and fold
together.

I saw your heart
and head
bow down
low.

I saw lips repent
and heard you ask
forgiveness and
give Him thanks.

I saw your example
 Angel Mother;
And....
 I too ...Thank you God.

Lea, This was so beautiful! You know, as I grew up, my parents and grandparents would say things over and over, correcting habits, posture, reminding us to give thanks, say thank you to others, be polite, etc., etc. And I can hear my exasperated voice saying, "Yeah, I know, I know!" I still hear those reminders and corrections whispering in my ear, too. "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it!" Very true, isn't it?

I totally agree with your sentiments Lea and with Cora. My parents taught my brother and I well and we said our prayers at bed time. You never forget these things. Sometimes nowadays, manners go out the window.

How many times have I been guilty for not stopping...laying down the fork & Thanking God for His gifts! Growing up we always bowed the head! This is beautiful, Lea! Ditto to all above! Thank You Jesus for lessons taught!
