~Let me Understand,~ WFW

Greetings and Holykisses,

This is how I typically study the Word; with at least three different translations of the bible: A King James, Ryrie study, and new Message bible all gracing our farmhouse table. Favorite pens, high-liters, bible studies, devotionals, candle, and soft music make this setting one where time stands still for me. I lose myself right here at this table.

Remember thee old black n white composition notebooks from school? Well, now they come in bright colors and stripes, so I use a different one for each study, and yet another for my daily walk with Christ, and still another journal for Victories. I have an ever-growing library of biblical notes for "ahaaa" moments and revelations.
Sometimes a light- bulb flickers, and many realizations, begin connecting the dots, all at the same time. When that happens, I can hardly write fast enough to keep up with the Holy Spirit!

"Let me understand the teaching of your precepts, then I will meditate on your wonders." Psalm 119:27

Just yesterday, someone asked me if I'd read the Word to them who's unable to do so for herself. Every day I see this person, I'm asked this same question. She hungers and thirsts for the Living Word of God. When we finish reading, and I walk away.... I see how "blessed" I am to have access to read and study the bible. This incredible book holds the key to the mysteries of heaven and is a manual for instructions of life!

I know people who don't read the bible because they say it's just too hard to understand; yet, if we ask God's help, He'll give it to us. He says His word will never return void. -- I actually know a man, who can't read or write well at all, yet he's read the bible through several different times. God gives him wisdom beyond his abilities, making him capable. It's amazing! And in all the years I've known him, he makes time every single morning to read his bible before he starts his day.

Happy WFW,

your are much more organized than I, my friend! what a great idea to keep your thoughts gathered and retain what you have gleaned from the Word. Maybe I'll go get me some of those notebooks!

You put me to shame. I use to take notes as I read and even write out prayers. I would use to take notes in church and highlight verses. I haven't done that in a while. I am reading the Bible through again and this time I'm seeing things that I never saw before, sometimes it's just like reading a story book (know what I mean?). In several of the chapters in the first part of the Bible I realized was a war zone. I also read some in the New Testament and it is right in line with this week.
Thanks for sharing,
AliceE.

Lea, I used to be one of those who said I could NEVER understand the Bible. But what helped me was joining a study group with ladies further along the path. As we read and shared together I gleaned so much. And now, I can read & study alone and be blessed.

So I encourage anyone who feels like they're not ready to do it alone, get a friend!

THANK YOU LEA for being a friend to that woman and reading to her. ANd thanks for being my friend too. :-)

I want to understand His word completely, too. Every time I read the scripture, I feel enlightened, and I've been reading it for over 30 years! It's never old, is it?

Beautifully said, sweet one! It's great to see how you study God's word. I do comparisons to other versions as well, but usually online through Bible Gateway. I love that you've used a different color notebook to journal each study. What an awesome thing to keep and look back on. For a long time, I was intimidated to study God's word...once I did my first Beth Moore Bible study, that started to change. That was 12 years ago and I still can't seem to get enough! We're so incredibly blessed to have The Word. I love the Psalm you've chosen. What a great scripture to begin your study time with...

Love & blessings,
Tracy

His word is so special.
I used to love spreading all the books out on the bed and kneeling and reading and praying and and and..........until I had to get the miserable knees replaced.....
Somehow I just cannot find a spot that is as right as that was for me.
We keep trying...........Hugs.
