So Long... Control Freak, and A Slab Of Banana Bread

Greetings and holykisses yall!

Okay so some of you have asked me about the post before this one.... "why" I didn't just take Myguy's ice cream cone and let the man drive? ........................* I realize, that would have been thee intelligent and delicious* thing to do.
I've been thinkin about it; and I guess it's coz the control freak had
snuck out without me realizin it.
Lord have mercy.
Thankyou for helping me see that.* (Maxi and Edie! and Alle too)*
I have yet another thing I get to add to my list of hindrances! Those
things that mess me up from living life the way God would have me live.
Lord please take the wheel! I really don't want it.
And why does the verse Ephesians 5:22 keep ringing in my ear also?
Help me God.
Your will, not mine.
I submit.

On a somewhat lighter note... this morning I made this:
My Momma made yummy banana bread. This is her recipe, and in her own hand.
When she went to heaven, all 4 us of kids got one of her banana bread pans. I baked this loaf today, in my very special pan. It didn't turn out as good as hers always did, but I tried my best.
I only had 3 over-ripened bananas so I halved the recipe.
And this was my breakfast.
Myguy had a meeting this morning, so I got up early and made him sausage, eggs and toast and after he left I had bread while finishing the book of Matthew. I want to share what my devotion says today. It's out of Jesus Calling.

"I am the risen One who shines upon you always. You worship a living Deity, not some idolatrous, man made image. Your relationship with me is meant to be vibrant and challenging as I invade more and more areas of your life. Do not fear change, for I am making you a new creation, with old things passing away and new things continually on the horizon. When you cling to old ways and sameness, you resist my work within you. I want you to embrace all that I am doing in your life, finding your security in me alone. It is easy to make an idol of routine, finding the security within the boundaries you build within your life. Although each day contains 24 hours, every single one presents a unique set of circumstances. Don't try to force-fit today into yesterday's mold. Instead ask me to open your eyes, so you can find all I have prepared for you in this precious day of life." -- Then, it gave two scriptures to read for the day. Matthew 28:5-7 and 2 Corinthians 5:17

Why should I be surprised that I had just read and finished Matthew before picking up my devotional today. And Matthew 28: 5 was something I'd circled. "Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified."

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Cor 5:17

Seeking Him ....
Have a wonderful day!
Holykisses xoxo

Great post lady! I love your gift for giving life situations scriptural application. I had missed the last post, so when I started reading this one, of course I had go back and read that one, too! I can so easily slip into that "controller" trap...even with the best of intentions. May God help gently pry our fingers off the steering wheel of our lives! I also loved what you shared from Jesus Calling...wow!

Your banana bread looks so pretty and delicious. I love that you have one of your Mom's pans and that recipe written in her writing. How special is that!? My Mom makes such good banana bread, too. (Mine never has as much flavor as hers.)

Thanks for sharing your heart, sweet lady.

Love ya,

Thought about making banana bread last weekend, but ran out of time. Funny thing, my mama never made it. My friends mamas did, but mine didn't. I've been using a Southern living recipe, but I'm gonna copy your down if that's ok.

Control issues...me, never. lol Gonna read that last post.

Thanks for sharing...I've not been in Matt. in awhile.

All this talk about nanner bread and ice cream dripping! Reminds me...I went to a dessert social at a nearby church last sunday in which the MEN had made all the desserts...I picked Banana ice cream from all the other stuff...and it was the right choice! But you really shoulda been there...

It is easy to make an idol of routine,

this spoke HUGE to my heart. God has been working within me to let go of my 'routine' with household chores and times spent with Him....My routine HAD become an idol.

Now I am resting in Him and waiting for His leading on how to go about my day spending time with Him and my 'routine for household chores...Loved this devotional..
