More Truth...Like Light On A Lily.

Today's verse was not what I thought it was gonna  be....
Instead; I thought it'd have something to do with

the rusty olde, Zephyr stove .  Ya see; rounding the hedge of red- tip photinias, I discovered every blackbird, cardinal and sparrow in Johnson county had discovered the black sunflower seeds that I'd left  on the burners.  It was quite  a sight to behold actually.   -Course; I scared them all half to death and every one of them flew away in a whirrrr.   I hid nearby for awhile... waiting for the Kodak moment that never happened again.  It was about then  I  spotted a very naughty white leghorn doing thee unthinkable!  I was mortified!  She was knee deep in peonies!!!   After a war cry.. I  spent a good deal of time chasing  chickens out of the  garden; barricading  them out of the  peony beds with old wire tomato cages,  flower pots, and  pieces of cattle panel. ... Once I open their coop door; I can't get them rounded back up til dusk so the only thing I could do was save the new pink shoots with temporary fortresses. ... I don't mind when the hens  scratch under the blackberry canes; or when they rake under rosebushes in search of a big fat grub- in fact I kinda enjoy their company... but upset my precious peonies and it's katy bar the door!  I hope they enjoyed themselves good  today because I fear they'll not taste freedom again  til the corn's knee high and maters are on the vine!

Anyways, walking into the potting shed, I lifted the nibbled wooden lid off the  wash tub for another scoop of bird seed.  The potting shed mouse was stranded in the bottom looking up at me with her beady brown eyes.   I find her there every day now.  She jumps as high as she can trying to reach the rim to no avail, so as usual I set the  broom at her feet  and she climbs on while I catapult her "gently" to the potters bench where she winks  goodbye and runs for home.  That's when I saw it:- the light on the lily bulb.  A Kodak moment had reappeared; but now...in the shabby olde potting shed.  I had to use the broom again.  Thank you dear mice for leaving so many  tiny "presents" on the table top.... and the cat or something had knocked over a whole metal coffee  can of zinnia seed.  I was afraid the light... would be gone before I finished tidying up.  But it lingered!

This verse on the photo was inspired because of  God's "truth."
The past few days I've been soakin in Philippians 4:8-9.  When my mind starts to wander down  it's many rabbit trails... I'm learning now to ask myself:  Leaon, is it true?  Is it noble?  Is that just?  Is that pure?  Is that lovely?  Is that of "good" report?  Is there any virtue to that?  Is there anything praiseworthy to that???????  ..........  So many times in a day, thoughts enter so NOT Phil 4:8 and when I realize  now  and if it doesn't line up;.... I speak or whisper  this verse outloud and kick  the thought outta my head.  It is so freeing.  Life changing!   I just can't explain the hugeness of it all.  I don't think the old what if's will ever have a chance again.   Because asking yourself Philippians 4:8 when you crawl in bed at night and start mullin  over every detail of the day... blots most everything  out because most "mullings" aren't true, noble, just, lovely, of good report, have any virtue, or are praise worthy!

Truth.
That's Jesus.  And...
He is
THE WAY...
the TRUTH..
and the LIFE.

Thank you Lea for this lovely picture of your day. I could just be there with you feeding the birds and pottering in the shed. Sounds good to me.... Thank you also for talking about mullin over. That's what I do and especially at night. I love how you apply the verses to every day. I definitely think you should write a devotional. Love and Blessings.

A really great post Lea. I love the challenge of comparing our daily life to the truth of God's Word..changes our day. And that is exactly what the Word is supposed to do..change us. By the way, I had to laugh at some of the antics you experienced..to funny. Thanks for this post. Blessings!
