Relying on God's love

Today's scripture picture takes me back to a sad day last Summer.
Arkansas was suffering  extreme drought.
To say it was dry... was  understatement.
Our grassland turned crispy brown under scorching sun.
Air stifled, pond stagnated and earth cracked hard.
Army worms and ravenous grasshoppers invaded every last morsel of leafy goodness.
Hay became scarce and luxury we could no longer  afford to feed all Summer long.

We held on .... praying and trusting.
But sometimes you have to let go... and keep trusting... anyways.
As the gooseneck  trailer backed up to the corral to take  away the last of our herd two hearts broke.  The buyer drove off with  our cattle peering  through slatted siderails.
Our herd..... no more.

As scorching days wore on..... we began to feel relief from this letting go.
And many weeks.. months... later... new opportunity came to buy 6 Momma cows, a bull, and even hay too.
The two baby heifers  above... are testimony of God's provision and grace.
This little  herd is growing...
 and  we give thanks.

A bittersweet story so beautifully written.
Reminds me of singing, "He gives and takes away, my heart will choose to say, Lord blessed be Your name."
