A Thrift Shop Find and Garden Lamp

Happy Friday!
A 3 day weekend no less!
I'm super pumped!

Myguy is actually closing shop after today,
and we have no plans.  None!
We are just gonna do whatever we want.
Hopefully that's gonna mean eating  some smores,  .... a watermelon,
 and  a motorcycle ride
in the mountains at some point.
I'm thinking a flea market or two are
definitely in order.
"Pretty please Myguy!!!!"

Speakin of flea markets; I'm searching  for another old iron bed.
I have four peonies that need to be transplanted into a permanent spot,
and a new flower BED is much needed.  If I can't find a reasonable  iron bed,
I'm thinking about using picket fence for a head and footboard.
So that could be another project for me this weekend.

Hey did you notice in the photo above that the
Christmas cactus is blooming?
What a surprise!

Thought some of you might like to see  a recent thrift  find!
Ya know how sometimes you'll come across something at a yard sale
or thrift shop that you just "know" if you don't bring it home you'll regret it?
From across the room, this  was .... love at first sight.
The lady I bought it from said she thinks it's  from the 20's or so.
When I saw the flourishes... and rust....
it had me at hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 See what I mean?
For now it's in my garden.
But come cold weather I think I'll bring it into our bedroom  and
put candles in it for a little ambiance.
Whatdya think?

 Here's still  another project.
I bought this antique floor lamp at a yard sale for five bucks.
It actually works but I'm thinking about cutting all the wiring off and turning it into
a bird bath?
Do you see a bird bath at all?
If I cut the wallpapered cardboard things off, I think the birds could perch on the three
pedestals.   And the right pie plate, or large vintage dinner plate could be glued to the top.
Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
Might sound strange but I also like it as is.. just
hangin out in the garden.  - Minus the cardboard things and cord.

Someone painted it this ugly gold ...
I'm not too fond of it but it's starting to rust
a little.  Being outdoors now will speed that up.
It needs to find the perfect place.
I just set here to snap a pic.

The base is nice and heavy.
I'd love to hear your ideas if you see something else.

This weekend, I'll be keeping my eyes open for a large plate
or pie pan.  Even one that is graniteware;  deep enough
for the birds to bathe or feed.

Hope yall have a great weekend!
Happy junking if you go too!
junque... not junk right?
It  just...
well...prettier.

Holykisses xoxo

Well Lea another thing we have the same!! I have two old lamps like that!! One I use for my purses in my bedroom to hang on and the other one is in the hall with a couple of rusty things hangin from it. Gonna be re-doing the hallway so I'll be changing that. In the garden will be cool! Yes I can see a a pie plate for the birdies to eat or even the granite bowl for a swim!! You could hang suet cakes on it too for them!! Off the arm thingys!! Have you ever heard of freecycle? You have to sign up for it with a yahoo account but it is kinda cool. You can ask for stuff or people post stuff. It goes by your zip code. It's "freecycle.org" check it out sometime my friend always finds alot of cool things on it!! Maybe you can find a rusty bed on it! Will be sending that recipe to you soon!! Still diggin in the gardens!! Hope you and your guy are having a scrumptious time together!! You go girl!! XOXO LOve, Fran.
