Joyful Fall Day!

Greetings and holykisses,

It's here; the first day of Autumn!
Happysigh*.........
It was downright chilly as well this morning (upper 40's I think!) which added to our excitement.
I'm sure we'll probably have many warm days here still, but... after a long, hot, dry, summer... -- we welcome a new season!

When we awoke today, not only was it downright nippy but the thickest fog just hung like a blanket in thee air. "Ya know it's foggy... when ya can't see your duck outside!!!!" Hope he's still on the pond because I fear two of my banties got ate this week. When they all perched back in their coop last night and I closed the door behind them, I thought I was just missing one little Belgian hen. But this morning upon closer head count I realized we're missing a little rooster too. I've been turning them out during the day so they could eat grasshoppers. Now I'm wondering about all the hawk cries I've been hearing? With just one hen missing I wondered if it could be possible she had started laying somewhere and decided to set. Sometimes they'll surprise you and walk up 21 days later with a brood. But when I discovered a rooster is gone too; .....it's not a good sign. Unless they ran off to get hitched or somethin? :P Sorry hawks for pointing finger at you but.... you're suspects!

So what's on all your agendas today!
I've been waiting for the fog to burn off so I can jump in the olde Chevy and head to town.
My grocery list is still brewing in my head.
I want to make Myguy something really special for supper tonight to celebrate a new season!
Something...we haven't had in a long time. I think he'd be a happy man to have a hearty bowl of stew set before him after a hard day's work. Stew with lots of tender meat... -And homemade hot rolls... with --real butter.

Yesterday I made two loaves of pumpkin bread. -It's probably Myguy's favorite dessert, other than pie. To make it new tonight, .... I think I'll tear some apart and layer it in a dessert dish with whip cream and sprinkled cinnamon sugar ontop. Is anyone getting hungry? All this food talk is already making my jeans fit tighter. ;D

Pots of purple, yellow and bronze mums, and 2 pumpkins are also on my grocery list today. A big fat, traditional orange one, and then one little white one! I always buy one white punkin ever year and name it "Rudloff" after a friend who lives in California. She loves white pumpkins so it's become tradition for me to find a really cute one to bring home in her honor. I sometimes talk to it too when I bake, like she's sitting on the counter with me. (grin)

Guess what? The fog has lifted!
Have a great day!
Holykisses xoxoxoxoxo

Joyfully!

Lea,
It sounds like you have a busy day planned.
I can almost smell the stew and bread... Yum... You've got a lucky husband for sure.
Enjoy your autumn day.
It's cool and cloudy in my neck of the woods.

It's still HOT here in Florida, rainy, but the days are getting shorter and the leaves are falling. So. . . I know the cooler weather will come, too. Stew and biscuits with REAL butter and pumpkin bread dessert. . . . STOP!!!!!! PLEASE STOP!!!!!!

Great post. It is a good day here. It rained for a while but the sun has come out and "MyGuy" is taking me out to dinner tonight to celebrate our 49th anniversary.
Can't believe it's been that long but according to the calendar it has.
Blessings my dear friend.

Hello Friend,

Oh, you have a duck (envy) :o)
When we go to Palm Desert, Ca., for vacation, there are lots of ducks and I feed them a lot. I sooooo love to watch them waddle as they walk.

You sound like a really great cook, and you have now got me starving for stew, and some pumpkin bread :o).

God bless you friend, and your family.
Love and hugs,
Michele

Aloha Lea!
Your post made me smile :-) busy in the kitchen, then the minute the fog lifts! I can just see you taking your apron off, dusting off that bread flour, and running out to the pond to see if Hairdo is there, greeting all your critters :-) Part of tending the flock, is accepting the cycles of nature/life. Not always easy when you get attached to their cute personalities and ways. I praying for them to return to the coop with a new brood.
Yesterday Maggie got a hold of and killed a baby chick. I felt soo bad. Had to pry her mouth open to get it out, she would not give it up. Said a little prayer of forgiveness on Maggie's behalf. Funny the rooster and his brood of hens did not show up this morning! I wonder why???
Have a wonderful weekend Lea!
Aloha Paula

I'm a little behind. Focusing here on getting back to as close to 100% health as possible.

So, how did you fare on your plans?

That pumpkin bread sounds wonderful! (I baked some orange/cranberry muffins from a box mix yesterday to send to a church board meeting with my husband. Of course I had to sample one. It was good.)

White pumpkins are a favorite of mine too. I guess I've never had a REAL white pumpkin, but I created one at a ceramic class I attended with a friend. I need to get it out. (It's on MY "to do" list.)

It's raining here & may rain till the weekend. Cuts out most outdoor plans for me....Hope you have a productive and pleasant week, Lea.♥

Yes, all that food sounds "spot on".
You are a good wifey :)
Do you know my man wants a bowl of cereal at night and I can't cook for him? He is careful about cholesterol.
I am SO excited for the new season...the best of all I think :)
