Monday Monday But Now It's Tuesday

Monday Monday. As you can see, ... Simeon the Siamese dropped by today for a crock of Meow Mix.
and I've been busy picking sweet corn, shuckin sweet corn, blanching sweet corn, and freezing sweetcorn. Oh and eating sweet corn. We've had corn on the cob... and corn off the cob. You get the picture. CORN. Thank you Lord for this beautiful starchy food. I don't know what I love more; corn or zucchini bread.

I think I told someone our seed was Kandycorn, but actually I think it's "Gotta Have it" - a hybrid sweet corn that I bought from Gurneys. Its super sweet and almost looks too pretty to eat. (almost) I do wish the stalks had grown taller than they did. Hopefully, they'll dry nice and can be saved for Autumn decorations. --That is if the grasshoppers don't carry them off first.
A few of the yuckier cobs are now in the bottom of the hutch to dry for donkey treats. Yay-- we're finally using the new cage for "something!" haha Mrs. Potter is hoping to find a husband but so far Mr. Right hasn't hopped in. She says what he looks like doesn't really matter. He just has to be sweet, and like bananas, alfalfa, and candylions. Until her Prince Charming arrives; this will be used as a corn hutch.

Yesterday morning, I went to church alone as Myguy had to work for a co-worker who went on vacation. I started toying with the idea of staying home the night before, but usually when I don't particularly "feel" like going, ... that's when I need to be there the most. - So.. I kinda felt like I was draggin myself there.

Our Pastor and his family had left on vacation and I didn't know the visiting Preacher who gave the sermon. He was an older gentleman and had much wisdom. It seemed ... as though God used him to give a message straight to me. He talked alot about:
~Our Spiritual Hearts.~

The scriptures were taken from Proverbs 4:20- and Matthew 12: 34-37
They all spoke to me in a huge way but,... but this one got me the most. (I just knew these morning glory heart leaves were catching my attention for a reason a month ago!)*

First; the message was about the human heart; and described the intricate way in which it works to keep blood pumping throughout our body, for our whole life long. It was really amazing to think on.

Then the Pastor began talking about our spiritual hearts. The heart that "cannot be seen on any xray." (his words.) What got me the most was when he asked,
"What is the condition of your spiritual heart?
I think I'll probably be able to journal on that for days.

Even though it was around 105 again today, I took my evening walk.
At one point I found myself on the cow path.
They are the perfect walking trail!

Making my way back to the garden brings me to this beautiful surprise.

She darted around for quite awhile.
Happysigh....

I'm hitting the hay!
Sweet dreams,
Lea

Lea, I loved your post today. Or should I say, I loved your HEART! It was just all over this --- I felt it!

And the corn! My happiest memory of my childhood HAS to be of eating corn ---- LOTS of butter running down my chin, hands all greasy, etc. I can remember that HUGE kettle taking forever to boil that water. (There were 7 of us waiting!). I think I could just eat corn forever (and zuchinni bread!).

The cow path??? Kind of like the "green line" ad we see on TV. Just stay on that path and you will never get lost. I remember in Virginia when I first moved there, I got lost. When I found the cow path, I just followed it home to the barn.

And thank you, Lord, for the dragonfly! So precious, Lea!!!! He just has a way of giving us those little gifts, doesn't He????

Ha! your corn post reminds me of the commercial for Miracle Grow for tomatoes. It had this guy sitting on top of a large tomato trying to get down and thinking of all the things they could make with the abundance of tomatoes they got. Tomato soup, dog food, pie, bread....etc....

I so love corn and I bet that is so sweet coming from your garden.

Yes, we have to sometimes examine our heart. I see folks that can recite the bible verses but their heart is black as soot.

I love your post, you are such an inspiration and have a lovely heart.

HI Lea,

Such a sweet post today. I love corn and zucchini bread. Now if I had to choose between the two, I'd choose zucchini bread. I love bread...fresh bread :) :) Your corn looks pretty :) :) How long will it keep once you've "put it up"? Do you can it or freeze it?

I borrowed your "Amazing Love" photo and the other with the Scripture about keeping our hearts with all diligence. I love those things that remind me of God's Word, God's sacrifice and the beauty of His creation :) :) Anyways, I saved it to my USB drive and the plan is to eventually print them out and frame them, so I can have some nice, Scriptural things to hang in my house ;) :)

Have a great day, Lea ;) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

Lea,
Your pictures are always so lovely and peaceful. I enjoy visiting your blog for spiritual nourishment from a sister in Christ. I'll look forward to seeing glimpses of "your spiritual heart" journaled.
Please keep me in your prayers. I'm having surgery on the 20th.
Till next time...
God bless you.

Hi Lea - You are exactly right! When I don't wanna go to church or something's pulling at me, that's when I need to be there the most - and I always receive a huge blessing from it, and hopefully am able to bless someone else!

Good lesson for us all! I've got some corn, too! Not as much as you as it's been so hot here. I think the grasshoppers are going to take off with ME!

Awww, a visit from your mama :)

Those baby mice! So sweet! My boy looked at them too :)
My bestest cat is gone :/ Rudy was fixed and so he never went cattin'. He was famous for taking rides in people's vehicles though.
You shoulda seen me share Christ in a parking garage! The attendant was from Africa and boy did he ever glow when he told me he WAS a Christian :)
I also was able to tell two Isralies Jesus loves them. I said it a bunch of times. They were trying to sell me hand cream. I told them my savior came from their home.
thanks for the prayers!

Hello Friend,

The condition of my spiritual heart, well lately that seems to be where He has my attention.

I have been doing a lot of examination of that heart of mine, and I see some plaque in there, which in the human heart would mean blockage which could lead to death. Sooooo, what to do, well I already know the answer, but thats where choice comes in, and I choose life. Well, I want Christ to live in me, so that really means to die to self. So, as for the spiritual condition of my heart I don't want plaque, I want a clean heart.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139: 23-24

Great post! God bless you Lea,
Hugs,
Michele

What a great question about the spiritual condition of our hearts. For me it's depositing God's word into it for sure. Good stuff Lea! Your post of late have been really fun, though provoking and beautiful as always, but I tell ya you had me at that CORN!!! Oh did that look delicious. YUM YUM Doing my best here not to have corn envy. Seriously, when I was a kid, I could sit down and eat till I could'nt eat any more corn, and my daddy grew the best corn, and big beans that he got seed from a friend. THank you for sharing your slice of heaven on earth with us

I had that exact type of dragonfly in my flower garden last night. I have never seen one like that, and this one was real 'skittish' just like yours. Other dragonflies, I can get very close to them, but not this one. Thanks for sharing the photo!
