Country Life

Greetings and Holykisses,

Life is sometimes full of little surprises.
Like ... toads in flowerpots and planted boots, a snake on my walking path, or a face to face confrontation with the squirrel I call "the sunflower bandit."

After you experience such things, you begin to expect the unexpected as much as possible.
But I didn't really expect it when opening this old box out in the shed.
I was looking for things to use in the barn and remembered it. I knew it had old silverware from an auction, and some farmy stuff Myguy tossed in it. Upon opening it, ... wouldn't you know... a mouse came flyin out at me. Surprisingly I didn't really scream. I think I nearly wet my britches, but;... didn't really scream.

After the country mouse got outta Dodge, and I gathered my wits.... I began to hear something?....
What was that sound?....
By golly it was coming from the box.
Great... -- all that hay and bits of plastic was a nest.
(I did not remember there being a hole in the bottom of that box, but there is one now.)
I could still hear "squeaking."...............
Ohmygosh.... do yall see what I see? Recognize that yellow bag? I turned it over for ya.
Miss Mouse made her nest using an old bag of Dcon.
I feel so mocked.
Mocked by a mouse.
It was time to find the source of all the squeaking.....
Is anyone still with me?.... If you're squeamish about these kinds of things...
RUN!!!!!!!
Just kidding!!!!!!!!!! It's really not that bad.

Did one of you just scream?
Please say you didn't.
We are bigger than they are.
Are you a man or a mouse?

lol Sorry I couldn't resist. That's something we say at our house all the time when someone's being a total wimp. lololol

Okay so I had my gloves on... when I picked one up.
I kinda think they're cute but they sure can get into stuff and destroy things.

....I'm not sure what happened after these pics exactly.

One could
ask
the
cat??????

I'll say goodnight and give you a new picture thought.
Butterflies and zinnias.
Oh and how about some lemon pie? I just had a piece and it was ohsogood.
Check the recipe out in the recipebox.

Sweet dreams,
and holykisses!! xoxo
Lea

Wow! Lea! You sure do know how to drag out a story and make my stomach tense. haha. Somehow those "country" mice sure look cuter than the "city" rats we see around the streets out here in Cali sometimes. I love looking at all of your country pics. Makes me long to get out of here sometimes and I can't help thinking how much my boy would love to find a toad or two!

I was reading and reading and at the same time my mind was going and going .....what is she going to do with those little things... Will she set them free or just close the box and let mom come back to raise her liter..... what is she going to do? Did not see the "CAT" coming!

Fun stuff this hot Sunday morning..... Please pray for us.. heat needs to break and we so need rain...... How is it going in your part of the world? Are you getting enough rain?

I have lived in OK all my life and never seen temps like this for so long and so early in the summer..... Wonder what July and Aug are going to be like.... We need the Father God to intervene..

Hugs

HI Lea,

Oh my stars...that was hysterical...I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at you, but your story was funny. I don't much like mice. If I had been in your place, i would have SCREAMED... Those mice babies are so cute. Did the cat really get them? Did the mouse mama ever come back?

Well, I guess I'd take a mouse over a snake, anyday..It is pretty hysterical that the mouse mama made her nest on an old bag of D-Con :) :) Gotta love the humor ;) :)

Okay...love that last photo of the flowers :) :) I'm going to look for that lemon pie recipe you mentioned in your recipe box.

Oh, I went to church and worship was great. I'm singing on the worship team, now..Now I"m listening to your playlist..so GOOD :) :) I'll leave your site up so I can listen to the playlist ;) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

Oh girl, I screamed and peed. They are cute but do create all kinds of problems. I tell you, you have had your share of surprises, did your hair turn a few shades grayer?

I hope all is well with you all, I have a few moments to come visit some of my favorite blogs. I love looking in on you.

I pray your week will be smooth sailing and uneventful and no more surprises like those.

GOD bless and keep you safe.

I had to laugh at your post it was kinda comical.
Those little mice are kinda cute aren't they, but not so in the middle of the night when you can hear them chewing on things.

I feel for the mice, but they are destructive. If they stay out in a field--waaaaaaaaay out in a field, that's okay. Otherwise, they must be 'disposed' of by...the cat???
