Our Long Weekend

Greetings and Holykisses!

This past weekend, Myguy did something unusual. He closed our shop for three whole days! Three long, ....wonderful, .....fabulous days!

And although our kids have been on their own for years now; I think it's still just hitting us that "we" are.... actually empty nesters! But we don't take vacations very often since we have our own business and also live on a farm. But this weekend.... we tried to forget about everything on the to do lists and had some fun.
We checked our fishing licenses..."Yay; still good!" Then we went to wallyworld and bought nightcrawlers. Do you know this is only the second time since we've had our old boat that it's actually been put in water? lol I was a little worried that it wouldn't even start, but everything worked great. We brought a picnic lunch, listened to Alan Jackson's christian cd in the boombox, and even brought floaties in case we got hot and wanted to jump in. We'd made a friendly lil wager on who would catch the first fish too. Oh was I happy to win! I rubbed it in so hard... and later guess what Myguy said? "I'm really glad that you won coz ... I'da felt really bad if I would have caught first fish." ;) (Like I'd fall for that guilt trip.) I won I won!
Now I know my lil baby bass was nothing to hang on the wall, but that dinky catfish that Myguy caught was barely big enough to pull a bobber under either. haha! --After the first two fish, we had a few bites but that was about it. We didn't catch any more. It was still great fun though. Even if nothing would have bitten... it was great just having the day together.
We did come upon this copperhead though. He was in the water near us for a loooong time. Even when we moved to a different spot; I found myself scanning the water before putting my hands in to wash off the worm goo. Snakes in the water just creep me out so bad. We've seen water moccasins before but I don't think I've ever seen a copperhead in the water.

After awhile, Myguy drove to the middle of the channel we were in and anchored the boat.
The water was really cold but we got in anyways to cool off.
Then we decided to head home and ride the bike again.

We did more bike riding than anything over the weekend, and I've decided something: I love motorcycle riding more than anything else we do! For me; it tops goin muddin, fishing, racing, kayaking, 4x4ing... everything! There's just nothin like a mountain road on a motorcycle.

Our son's girlfriend Michelle came to pick up Sylvester just before we headed out in the photo above and took this picture of us. Although you can't see them; yes we really do wear helmets always! --and this weekend was the first time we tried out our intercoms that fit inside our helmets and ohmygosh... it was awesome to beable to carry conversation while riding!

We put on alot of miles. One afternoon we even drove up to Mt. Magazine.
It was so beautiful and there's a cool lodge there where we stretched our legs and had an awesome buffet.
We took the scenic route home and one of the antique shops we'd passed before was actually open so we checked it out. The owner told us she has another store up the road, and gave us directions.
It ended up being down a dusty dirt road. So much for a clean bike; but when I saw the pig on the porch, I knew it just had ta be worth it. haha

We didn't buy anything, but I did find this..........

An adorable little sign attached to a garden gate. It made me smile... and then I immediately thought of this verse:
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen." 2 Peter 3:18

You grow girl!

Lee,
I love these pictures, especially the one of you holding your fish :o) . It sounds like you had an awesome time together. I'm afraid of fish, well live ones. I really like the scripture that came to mind when you saw the sign attached to the garden gate.

Also love motorcycle photo of you both, you are clearly not a boring couple :o) You look so beautiful in every photo.

God bless you friend,
Michele

Thank you for taking us along on your weekend trip. WOW! I could just feel the cool water and hear it lappin' against the boat. I do love that sound...so relaxing and wonderful to snooz by.

Its good to let your hair down and get away.

I agree with you girlfriend... motorcycle riding with our guys is awesome. We enjoy our Harley soooo much. Wouldn't it be fun to live by each other and we could all ride together. General Lee is really a pro packing the saddlebags with "treasures" we pick up at antique stores. How come you don't get helmut hair?? I always have to wear a hat when get get off at places. I look bad. Thanks for the fun post. Oh, I remember those horrid copperheads in the water when we went rafting with my brother and his wife in MO. I was sooooo scared.
Take care,
Janie
