Another Heart Thing

Greetings and Holykisses,

I heard this scripture listening to a podcast on the Beatitudes this evening while mowing and weedeating. Amazing how the living word of God can find us isn't it?

I decided to look up the word righteousness in the "Strongs" tonight and then read Matthew Henry's Commentary to dig into this Beatitude a little deeper.

It says the word comes from: Dikaiosune, and the definition is this: "In a broad sense: state of him who is as he ought to be, righteousness, the condition acceptable to God. The doctrine concerning the way in which man may attain a state approved of God. Integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking, feeling, and acting in a narrower sense, justice or the virtue which gives each his due."

The words that jumped out at me the most are: purity of life.
That "correctness of thinking" is probably the first place I tend to veer off the purity path.
Our minds can ... ; kind of have a mind all of their own it seems sometimes huh? When that happens to me, I've been trying to remember to pick up my sword of the Spirit and speak the whatevers. I've even had them written on my chalkboard in our living room to help me remember. They were also in our reading at church this Sunday!!

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:8

If purity of life is what's acceptable to God...
then it must be a heart thing. May I hunger
and thirst for His righteousness.

I'm just jumpin' for joy here knowing that you picked up that HUGE book and dug that out for yourself! Wasn't that hard, was it????? Loved the comments here, too! Never thought of the term "stinkin' thinkin'" but I've had some of that hanging around. I MUST get meself a chalkboard!!!!!
