Dec 1, 2010 Word Filled Wednesday

Greetings and Holy Kisses,

It's not only Word filled Wednesday but the first day of December! Oh JOY!
Flipping my Gooseberry Patch Calendar was a sweet delight this morning. The count down begins...........! This year, more than anything; I hope to not work myself into a tizzy... and really reflect on the true meaning of CHRISTmas.
Opening day 1 on the potting shed advent calendar, I found a little white dove.

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35
The verse above, keeps coming to me through songs, cards, and the word, so I decided to write it out today. I just want to keep soaking in this verse. I wonder if the vintage relative I purchased in the top photo was basking in His presence, or meditating on a special verse in this way as well. I like to think so.
Last night our ladies meeting was postponed, so I started cutting cardstock and folding the pieces into cards for the stockings at church. It was so much fun, and got me anxious to start making my own Christmas cards. Do any of you make your own Christmas cards too?
Don't ask me why I took this picture. I guess because vintage glass Christmas balls just makes me happy. If the paint is chipping, I think it just adds to the charm don't you?
Yesterday, I stopped off at the Cherry Street thrift shop and found this old strand of lights. They actually work, but I'd never be able to trust them, so I'm trying to think of something to make out of them. Any ideas? The plastic bases, and end looks like bakelite. Maybe I should just cut the wires off and make colorful ornaments out of them. Let me know if you have a good idea! Maybe the wires should be cut and they could be added to the bowl of vintage ornaments? Hmmm... what do you think?

Okay, Myguy is waiting for me. We grained the livestock awhile ago, so we're going to bundle up and go for a walk in the dark to let the donkeys out of the corral and then rock on the new porch under the colored Christmas lights. Sounds kinda romantic don't you think? Oooh I hope we have some hot cocoa!

Have a blessed night!

That does sound romantic. I have several strands of those lights. I used them last year on a small tree on the porch. Nothing burned down but those bulbs do get hot. Its a wonder growing up with trees that were not put in water but had those criss-cross wooden bases attached to the tree did not burn up from the heat of those bulbs. I am not trying it this year. I will just keep them so we can look back on them with fond memories.

Mingle the bulbs and balls all together in a bowl get an artificial wreath, mingle the strand of lights in the wreath then add some old ornaments. It will have color without lighting them.

I too love a bowl of old ornaments. I have a gourd bowl in the livingroom with some it it. Very rustic. One of the blogs I follow has a basket full of them for her header. I love looking back at all the keepsakes.

I did make my cards one year. I had one angel rubber stamp, got some embossing powder and an embossing gun to heat the powder. Fun but messy. I am back to store bought cards.

You do have a slice of heaven right here on this earth.

I have thought about making my own cards this year.... Not sure but am thinking about it...... I used to send out about 50 cards mostly to the blog girls but I think this year it is much less..... so I just might make them! Please no tizzies this year!

You have a good spiritual blog here. I’ve been following and enjoying your blog for a while now and would like to invite you to visit and perhaps follow me back. Sorry I took so long for the invitation.

Hi Lea,
You write in a way that almost seems like your speaking live, in person. You just seem like a really fun, sweet person.

Ok, you ask "Do any of you make Christmas cards?"
I have maybe made 10 in my whole life, how sad is that :o)
By the way, I gave-up on figuring out how to set-up the twitter account. Ok I know this was off topic.

I love the verse you included in this post Luke 1:35.
It is so beautiful.

God bless you,
Michele Katherine

I haven't made any cards in so long....love the vintage glass balls just as much as you do and those old lights would look great in some crafty idea, maybe on a wreath? Can't wait to see how you use them. I love the old photo on top of this post!
