Tuesday In The Garden

Greetings and Holykisses,

Today was spent outdoors most of the day.
Myguy installed the new sink in the potting shed over the weekend so I've been cleaning up a storm; sprucing things up,... and planting everything I can get my hands on!

Don't you just love all the colors of Spring?
This evening I finished planting this chair but it lacks maybe one more plant. I used old chicken wire for the base as well as a coco basket. The petunias in it are just regular ones, so a wave petunia should sprawl out of there better. The planter part is not that big on this chair, but I made it deep. The ivy should start climbing around the back pretty quickly. I should have waited to show you a picture after I put a larger plant in it, but that's alright. -- I think I'll make another one just for succulents. I saw a wreath made of hens and chicks the other day in a magazine that was totally awesome. I wish I could remember the magazine.
Although the butterfly house is made of cedar and didn't need to be painted; I did so anyways to match a birdhouse that I also painted. Ooooh and guess what happened today?!!!.............
THIS HAPPENED! The first BLOOM of my Momma's peonies!
And more are soon to follow! There are pinks also, but I'm amazed how "creamy" are these white's.

I nearly emptied the whole potting shed today cleaning. While I painted the butterfly house, the hummingbirds were frequenting the feeders. I finally started taking pictures of them because I noticed we were getting different types.

I need to get a book out to identify them. This one was very plain.
Loved the dark head on this one.
And this one was ruby -throated. They didn't seem to mind my being so close at all; which surprised me.
They were right above my head and I could almost feel the wind of their whirrrr! Hearing them made me think of Don Piper saying in his book "90 Minutes In Heaven," that he remembered hearing the whirrr of angels wings. :) I can hardly wait!!!! -- Anyways, .... I really love watching these beautiful creatures. It was so windy today; they must be so strong for their size!

I did empty out the "commerical red- dyed hummingbird juice, and have been making it fresh instead. One of our feeders has a clear plastic jar, with a red bottom; and I always thought it had to be red all over. It's so not true because the hummers go to it with the clear sugar water just as well as they did when it had red dye in it. It does have the red bottom though. The recipe to make the juice yourself is 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water. That sure beats buying it all the time doesn't it?

If you have any creative gardening ideas, please drop me a line.
Think: creating unique fountains,....... unusual planting containers, arbors, whirlygigs, or bottle trees.

Sweet dreams!
L

Your gardens of flowers sounds so beautiful. It reminds me of the song "In the Garden". Are you familiar with it? If not let me know and I'll try to find it on YouTube and put it on my blog.
The first verse says "I come to the garden alone, While the dew is still on the roses; And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, The Son of God discloses. Chorus - And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own, And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known."

Blessings, my friend, AE
This sounds so much like you.
