Keeper of The Garden

Greetings and Holykisses,

We definitely got frosted.
Before dark, I dug out all thee old sheets and headed outdoors with clothespins in all my pockets. Then, began the hunt for empty flower pots, buckets and anything that could be used for "covering."

Four tall window screens, sheets and clothespins and wala we had a peony pup tent.
Upon a close inspection, I'd discovered that the cucumbers had come up, as well as the peas and beans. All of them, and the potatoes were bundled up in a bed of old hay.
Clay pots, trash cans, buckets, and even an old chamber pot, became winter hats for tomatoes.
More sheets and buckets covered a grapevine, more peonies, zinnias, and roses.
I'm so thankful we had the warning, and I had time to prepare.
Opening the Word this morning, I started back in Genesis. Gen 2:15 sure stood out: "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it."

My garden was certainly dressed up last night.
Hopefully warmer mornings are in the forecast.

I do hope that everything did ok!
Wishing you oodles & oodles of joy this weekend!

When we had a house we had azaleas (sp?) and always had to cover them at least once. They were always so pretty. I miss that part of owning a home.

Have a blessed day.
Love you, AE

Hi Lea,

What happened, our warmer weather has left us all freezing.

Good thing you had all the right stuff to cover up all your beauties.

I always look forward to reading your blog, just love your sharing the word.

Have you ever divided your peonies, and when are you suppose to do it, spring or fall?

I love peonies, and have 10 bare roots waiting for warmer planting weather (probably the end of the month)to come and stay.

I found an artical in Country Living Garden, where peonies line a circular driveway and hoping to replicate that look.
Have a blessed weekend,

Hugs,
Mel

Love the dressed up look, esp. on the old bed, classic country gardening! One more night and we should be in the clear! Have a blessed weekend!

Well darlin, your garden was definately "dressed" ! lol Sure hope that's the last frost. My mama has some things planted already too. It's nice and sunny down here in Florida!

I went to Lowes today and bought a few flowers!!! I soooo miss my gardens. All these will go into pots. This yard and soil is a mess! Tons of sand too.

I even got a little baby Gardenia...love them!

And even Solomon wasn't dressed as well as your garden! :D

I'm glad you got the warning too. I hope it warms up and you can undress your garden again.

Have a great weekend!

Happy you got everything cover up.
They told us we were going to have frost also, but we saw no evidence of any this morning. Got a cherry tree in bloom and an apple.

Looks like you tucked everyone in and they are ready to rest!

I would never have had enough pots and large ROCKS to place on top of to keep the wind from blowing them to kingdom come.
