Walk In The Snow, and Shadow's Glimpse

Greetings and holykisses!

I started this post on Saturday, but our internet went out.
Thought you might like to see a few pictures from my winter walk.
Our snowfall was beautiful, and so far, it hasn't all melted off yet.

Here's Lydia poking her head out of the barn to say, "Good- maaa aaaaaa aaa aarning!"
Lydia's kind of a people person.* She's happiest when I let her through the gate to be with me, but I don't do that very regular, because then she tries to get out on her own. Unfortunately, in summertime, she has a real hankerin for things like blackberries, raspberries, *ROSES*, and pretty much everything grown in my garden. We butt heads alot over that. (no pun intended)
Who could blame her for lovin roses though hmmm? The olde girl has good taste. She prefers pink of course.
Our newest calf weathered the storm just fine. He's a little bull so he'll only be with us for another 6 months or so.

This is a little pool down in our woods. There's a spring that keeps it fed but the run off you see is from the rain and snow.
And this is further on down the creekbed.
I learned walkin down here that my boots weren't quite tall enough. ;)
On Dragonfly Pond looked pretty with the reflection of the pine trees. I'd forgotten how "bright" it is, when everything's covered in snow.
And Ginger here; looks as if she'd been eating snowballs.
Hannah's calf was feelin pretty frisky. Makes me wonder what they think seeing snow for the very first time. I wondered how he was in the night, but as you can see he faired pretty well!
I think he has the prettiest, brown eyes.

It took the puddleducks a long time to find the hay I set out for them to stand on and lay in.
But once they figured it out, they stood in it alot.
Percy decided he hates the snow. He's been staying on rooftops alot more than usual.
Looks like you're seeing double here doesn't it? ;)
Violet and Spirit are hoping Punxsutawney Phil doesn't see his shadow. They're sick of this stuff.
Getting snowballs all up in your hooves and trying to walk is for the birds.
Spirit looked like a Popsicle for two days.
The dogs on thee other hand, loved this. Francoise here; hopped like a bunny through the deep parts and learned to play "catch" with snowballs. It was hilarious and
he never grew tired of it.

And since Abe's been gone, ... his daughter Adelaide and I have been getting pretty tight. I can't get over how much she reminds me of him. It's almost like she's taking over his position of lookin out for me... and she stays alot closer now. Her stance - next to me... nearly makes me catch my breath. This is exactly what Abe would do. He'd park alongside me, and wait for me to "go."
And while we walked together through the snow, I realized... -- she's beginning to take over where he left off. I really didn't think it would ever be possible. I know I'll never have another friend who could ever take his place. But I'm grateful that he lives on in a way- through her.

I don't know if Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow or not... but at times, I think I'm catching a glimpse of mine again.

Lea,
I so enjoyed taking a walk with you and seeing the farm after the snowfall. Looks like a beautiful place to live. Kissed by God himself. Thanks for the break although this walk doesn't solve the problem I have of not enough exercise, and too many cookies lol!!!!
Blessings Meg

Oh Sweetness, I just love all of your farm animal pics, and the snow in the woods! I think you could make a great calendar with all of your animal photos!! They are charming!

So glad that you have had your heart touched by Abe's daughter. When we lost our dog of 14 years I never thought we find another that could come close either. But now we have 2!!! Another thing I would never have thought would happen!! And a cat!! God is so good!!

Love ya and hope your week is off to a good start!!

I LOVE your pics! Hard for me to imagine your balmy farm with snow! It definately is beautiful! Did you ever loose electricity? Did the boys get a few "good cookies" in??? They are little clones of their father!! He couldn't wait to slide around EVERY corner he came upon! I'm sure you remember! Love you and miss you!

I have missed some great posts! Moving stinks cause I just don't have "extra" time to blog. However, gonna make the time to visit you. That's how it feels, like a visit.
I enjoyed our walk in the snow while feeding the animals. You got some amazing shots of your beautiful critters. I grew up on an Ar farm and had a creek very similar on our land.
On a sad note, we lost our Golden this summer...so glad you have your friend, not Abe, but a blessing none the less.
Oh...I love feeding the birds and miss my kazillion of Michigan birds. So glad God is feeding them in my absence. ; )

Also the verse you shared above really spoke to me...sooo much going on right now. Just pray we remain in God's will...He opens and closes doors & windows...in HIS time. (that's the hard part for me) I just want to walk by faith in the now with Him.
