So We Had A Date... To The County FAIR!

Happy Friday dear friends!

Imagine my surprise when yesterday afternoon, Myguy says, "Honey.... How bout we go down to the county fair tonight?" "Um... let me think..... "Okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
No twistin my arm there!

We'd heard that we were getting a new carnival group... Yay! And I must say, pulling into the fairgrounds and seeing "it" nearly took my breath away. Finally FINALLY we have a ferris wheel! See, the "ferris wheel" is kind of "our thing." That "thing" that brings back lots of memories with a spark of romance from times past. ;)

Must say, the new carnival is much better than the old one! All the rides were new looking and beautifully painted. No paint was chipping off, didn't notice and welds that were broken, no bolts missin, and no gears grinding. lol Things were lookin UP!

You know how it goes. As soon as you start strolling your way through all the games, you're called in by every carnie. Myguy scoped out his options. Shootin hoops, bb gun, darts, ducks, ....DARTS?
He gives me those eyes, and is met with enthusiasm and encouragement. "You can do it honey!" "Come on,.... win me something CUTE!"

Myguy is a business man. He questions "the deal." How many times must I pop the balloon, and bottom line; how much money? A deal is struck, and the first $5.00 bill is exchanged.
I WAS SO IMPRESSED! The man can pop balloons people! He was a balloon poppin "Big Daddy!"
I was soooo proud and cheered him on with everything I had! Just look at his form!
And look at Mr. Carnie's expression. lol I could tell he was thinking, "Oh crud... this guy's GOOD!"

I can't remember HOW much money swapped hands, but Myguy popped every single balloon! 6 in a row if I remember right.
But Mr. Carnie wanted more money.
Mr. Carnie didn't realize Myguy is even better at numbers than he is poppin balloons with darts. And Myguy was keepin track. lol The math just wasn't addin up! At the final showdown Mr. Carnie wanted a $10bill for the next size toy. Allllll those balloons popped and he wanted a $10? Myguy looked soulfully into my eyes, and Mr. Carnie egged it on with, "You don't want her to have "this" toy, when she can have a bigger one do you?" I winked at Myguy and said, "Ohhhh NO, I LOVE this one!" "This is the one I WANT!!!!" You'll see in the photos to follow, our beautiful, and very ORANGE, little- puppy dog! I think he's adorable. (Actually they both are!)
We didn't have supper before we went. So we got a hotdog, fries, and lemonade, and later found a funnel cake to share. There's just nothin like sharin a funnel cake with the one you love is there?!! Oh hey, there's our new little puppy dog! Now don't look on him with pity,... he's CHOSEN!

Can you hear the merry go round? I love the "song" of the merry go round! .... (sigh*)
It was such a wonderful night!! We wandered hand in hand through the livestock barn, and saw beautiful calves wearing cute little red halters. There were sheep, and goats, a miniature pony and even llamas. We looked through all the arts, crafts, and other handmade items. There were quilts, clothing, crocheted scarves, photography, and I loved seeing the homegrown garden vegetables. Especially the huge sunflowers and giant pumpkin!!

The colorful lights on all the rides, bags of cotton candy hanging in the snack trailers, and the people! People watching is such fun. Everyone's just so happy at the county fair!

As the sun went down, we knew it was time! We made our way to the ticket booth and bought our 8 tickets, and waited for our turn.

Our kids were at the fair as well, and Trent and his friend Chelsea took pictures of us on my camera.
The ferris wheel is "our" ride. Lots of memories from times past of riding the ferris wheel together and now we made new memories.
Myguy inspected the welds as we went up, and they met his every approval. lol
The best 8 tickets ever spent.

Oh, and we are always up for sharing a funnel cake. My man and I. I always say yes, and because I know they are a passion of his, I always make sure he gets the most.

Ok, your Thankful Thursday was great, my spiritual uplift and this county fair my fun uplift. Would you believe I've never been to a fair? Have ridden a ferris wheel and was scared almost to death. We were at the beach and at the top you could see the ocean. That was many, many years ago.

Thanks for signing my Guestbook with my favorite picture of you.
You look like a movie star.

Still need your prayers. My cousin is still breathing but heavily sedated to keep her comfortable. She had a really bad stroke. I really did not think she would last this long but today is the tenth day. Her breathing is getting less and less. It is so hard to watch her. She's 88 years old and has lived a good many years by herself and done her own thing and she doing this "her way".
Luv u,
AliceE.
