First thank you to Cerri from http://www.littlepinkstudio.typepad.com/ and Analise: from: http://www.leesiebella.typepad.com/ for hosting thee show and tell Sunday again. Everyone seems to love doing this and .... truly I'm havin a ball! Click there for the show and tell participants! Lots of great shops to visit! ~ The mission of the day was to show our favorite antique shops!
Okay off on my adventures.... Here are my two very favorite places to visit.. First: thee most wonderful antique store in my home town. I LOVE coming here... and the shop owners are absolute dear-hearts. Barb, and Don are delightful people and full of knowledge of all things olde and vintage. What they don't know, they will help you find out! My favorite thing about their shop is: THEY HAVE LAY-AWAY.... -- who does THAT anymore? Not even wal-mart! Okay, c-mon and I'll show you around. You can click on pictures to see things up close!
The top picture shows thee exterior. I LOVE this building... Love the zig-zagged top of the bricks. As soon as you go inside are "the clocks." They used to have them set up at the back of the store. A WALL of clocks.... and often they wind them all up. I am mesmerized by their ticking and could stand there for hours.... it is a soothing sound to me; and many of the clocks have beautiful faces. I love big ben clocks, and old mantle clocks the best.
Next is a far away shot and you can see there is alot of glassware here. If you love old depression glass: this is the place for YOU. Next, is a whole display case of vintage and antique photos and postcards. YES, I have shuffled through them all.... they are so interesting and I am always on the hunt for pics of gardens.... and my sister loves the ones with women sewing, and quilting. If you ever find any of those let us know k?? Beneath that photo is another of a goooorgeous old pie safe. Don't you just LOVE the star punchouts? OOOhLALA! I would love to have this but it's priced at 1200 bucks. It is in excellent shape, but too high for my budget. :( bummer
After that is the linen area. Wow, they have awesome aprons, and tablecloths, and tea towels. I have bought many here!! Then a shot of my BOOKSHELF... they have several book areas , and I have found some awesome finds tucked in here and there. You just gotta dig sometimes!! Is it just me, or dontchya just LOVE the smell of OLDE BOOKS! ~ Next the white kitchen hoosier type cubbie is sweet. I love the chippy paint, and there is always some cutsie dishes or jars in here. The next picture, I really don't know what to call that cabinet: but it sure is a tempting one! It's kind of a china cabinet, buffet type. I love the dark wood, and legs. OHHH... that would be a tempting one for layaway! * Now, what do you think of that "dental chair?" Kinda makes me wanna THROW UP! I get kinda queasy lookin at that one and "imagining" the stories behind it. Let's move on....! The next picture is MY VERY HEART THROB.... I SO ADORE that olde prim shabby GREEN pie safe. It is rusty, and worn, and charming, and NEEDS TO COME LIVE WITH ME.... I WOULD GIVE IT A VERY GOOD HOME AND I CAN JUST IMAGINE ALL THE BUTTON JARS IT COULD HOUSE. DO I DARE? I JUST MIGHT!!!!!!!!!! Haven't put anything on layaway in a long time... but... when you snooze you lose you know? I have kicked myself black n blue before,... waiting too long! Okay, the sewing area... always draws me in. They have cute, lil prim things... old spindles, and button tins... (I HAVE DUG THROUGH EVERY ONE) and bought a couple old jars of buttons myself... let's see... they also have their millinery hats, and vintage clothes in this area. Since the last show and tell post about show us your millinery and hats... I have a special interest now. So far, nothing has just grabbed me in way of HATS , but remember the vintage dress with the pearl, flowery buttons one of my mannys wears? Yup; it came from here. I knew yall would LOVE the washbowl picture... ROSES ROSES ROSES... what's not to love! I positively swoon over that heritage green color with pink roses. Usually have to wipe away my drool here.... haaa
Lastly, is another picture of another favorite place. Our old hometown, Salvation Army. So maybe it's not beautiful, and usually has old furniture outside, and often times the kind of junk that maybe should be taken to the land fill.... but you can ALSO find some REAL treasures here. I love stopping in for a look-see. I have found an antique CROWN beanpot here, an antique glazed WEDDING RING bowl FOR A DOLLAR!, and many other awesome trinkets, bling, and buttons!
Almost every time I come here, someone is dumpster diving. I have noticed their real technique is to bring a CANE.... and hook whatever they want and pull it to the surface.... -- It looks like an art to do this... but hey... you know what they say: "One persons trash is another persons treasure." That is definitely true! Hope you enjoyed my show and tell. Thanks for following through to thee end.
Have a wonderful week, and again Thankyou to Analise and Cerri for including me in their sunday Show and tell.

It's all so grungy and fun. I love to dig to find treasures and they tend to be there because a lot of people don't like to get dirty. Thanks for sharing about you favorites.

By the way, Lea, the little terrorist is a cross between a Japanese Bantam and an Old English game bantam. She is tiny, but thinks she is VERY BIG. LOL
